America - I fear for you

Posted on Thursday 22 November 2007

My American readers

Most of you will not see this before the weekend is out, so you may well miss it altogether. Yet I feel to write it now; to get it down.

When you wake up today, starting seven hours or so after we do here in Israel, you will celebrate Thanksgiving, marking 386 years after that first special gathering to thank and praise the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for taking care of the pilgrims He had planted in the “new promised land.”

It is a day when you will express your appreciation “for the many signal favors of Almighty God” bestowed upon your country.

As a nation, you do have much to give thanks for. You have been blessed with an enormous, breathtakingly beautiful and extremely prosperous land.
There is ample room for you and your 300 million fellow citizens to live in, share and benefit from. The US is the wealthiest, most powerful and most influential country on the planet. For nearly one hundred years you have been the world’s uncontested “Number One Superpower.”

Thanksgiving will kick off the four-day long weekend that marks the two heaviest annual travel days in the United States as families, often from diverse places all across the country, make a special effort to come together in one place.

And as the majority of you do every year, you will carve up your turkeys, tuck into sumptuous feasts, and take turns talking about things you are thankful for and experiences during the past year which have left you feeling grateful. Untold numbers of you will be filled anew with gratitude that you are Americans.

I want to wish you, with all my heart, a Happy Thanksgiving indeed.

But I wonder how many of you, as you sit down to enjoy your national holiday, will be aware of the fact that a number of your countrymen will be otherwise occupied over this weekend? State Department and other administration officials will be burning the candle at both ends trying to get things lined up for the big event that is to be convened the day after you all return to work.

While you are thanking God for your land and His bountiful provision in it, your elected leaders will be brainstorming for the most effective way to take another nation’s land away from them.

And as you while away your weekend, relaxing, visiting, having fun, government officials and other leaders from as many as 40 countries will be boarding the planes that will bring them to your shores in time for Tuesday, when they will come together to determine how best to commit this crime - this massive historic injustice.

That’s right. The International Conference for the Creation of Palestine on Israel’s biblical land is set to convene in Annapolis, Maryland, on November 27 - this coming Tuesday.

And what a day to choose.

On the Jewish calendar, November 27, 2007 is 17 Kislev, 5768. It was on 17 Kislev 5708 in Jerusalem (evening time) - exactly 60 years ago - that the United Nations voted to split the Land of Israel in two, and out of it carve a Jewish and an Arab state.

Back then the decision was greeted with joy. for even though it deprived the Jews of a large part of the land promised them for a homeland, it did provide the foothold from which their ongoing restoration could unfold. A majority of the nations - perhaps moved with at least some compassion following the Holocaust - voted in favor. And on the strength of that vote David Ben Gurion six months later read out Israel’s Declaration of Independence.

What will happen on Tuesday though, is that the majority of the nations represented at Annapolis - all of them in fact - will give a massive push to the relentless effort to try and turn back the clock and enforce to the realization of the partition decision.

And the US will be leading the charge - a charge against the will and purpose of the same God who established your country, and who is working to re-establish His country for His people - Israel.

On this Thanksgiving Day, I am praying for you, America.

I fear for you.

I sympathize with Israel and in some ways I agree with you. But America is only a tool, God is the designer….God’s purposes now and in the Bible were never as clear to those who were personally involved at ground zero. I don’t think that anyone can stop the ball at this point. God is in control and He will act at the proper time. It is all for his glory and honor. The nation of Israel is the apple of his eye, you must believe that his will shall be done. What has been prophesied will happen with or without us. The one thing that we can all agree on I think, is that the final page says that we win. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and even so come Lord Jesus.

Thank you, Stan, for wishes and warnings. Please know that there are those of us who fear for ourselves as well. And we feel powerless to have our voices heard, because our leaders’ ears seem deaf to us. More importantly, deaf to Father God.

We hear and read so many people saying it is inevitable; but today we remembered that God spared Nineveh - even though Jonah hated that He did. And God heard Hezekiah’s prayer and answered it. He could change His mind. Prophecies and judgments can be changed, because our God does not change.

We are committed to prayer and fasting after spending tomorrow afternoon with family. And we will continue to be grateful — for Who He is and for what He can do.

Praying, because it is all we have left as the world’s leaders gather…

Sh’ma, America, Sh’ma, O world, Adonai eloheinu, adonai echad

Stan, Leslee and Gary: I agree with you. True, God is in control….but he is not a “cosmic bellhop” sitting in Heaven pushing buttons making things happen. He longs to hear from His people. In fact, He tells us to: “Call upon me, and I will show you great and mighty things which you know not.”

His exortation is very clear! He longs to hear from us. When He hears from us, it moves His heart, and it can CANCEL the plans of the wicked and those who live in deception.

Prayer with fasting is THE POWER SOURCE that He has given us. Isaiah 58, verses 6 thru 14. WE DO HAVE POWER! Great and Mighty Power through humbling hourselves before the Most High God. Our Prayers REALLY DO MOVE THE HEART OF GOD!

We are not to just sit back and say “what will be will be” ka-sera sera

We are not defeated! We are made Overcomers through the work Jesus Christ did on the Cross of Calvary. As Overcomers….WE HAVE POWER! We don’t realize how much power we do have!!!!

As a matter of fact: Let Stan, Leslee, Gary and me come into Covenant Agreement right now. As we do, God looks down from Heaven on us, smiles, and sends legions of His angels into the battle. Annapolis going forth is not a done deal, in the name of Jesus Christ. We four have the power to stop this attempt by evil people to divide Jerusalem, and give away more of Israel’s land.

“Most loving and gracious Heavenly Father, giver of all good things, We come into your presence in the power of prayer. We know that YOU do ALL THINGS WELL. Father, confuse the plans of the enemies of Israel. Turn each and ever enemy of Israel against one another…..confuse all of their plans. Stop any and all progress that they have planned to take place in Annapolis. Bring a GREAT Victory for Israel. Show the entire world, as it looks on in anticipation, that YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY IN THE AFFAIRS OF MANKIND! Arise, and put to shame those who would sacrifice Israel because of desires to promote themselves and their “agendas.” I pray this in the name of my Savious and LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of the Most High God. amen and amen

Stan and the others I agree with the comments. We must continue to pray without ceasing. LORD you have blessed our nation beyond blessings yet what have we done. We have taken you out of our schools, homes, and nearly everything else yet you still bless our nation. LORD have mercy upon our nation because only you can stop this event from happening.
For peace to Jerusalem and that you awake our nation.
    COME LORD JESUS!

    Y’hovah, My Father.
I come into agreement with the testimony of truth that Marsha has spoken about you and your ways and your promises and our part. I pray in your name for the same. I worship YOU. I honor only YOU. I glorify YOU. I know YOU.
In provision and in time of Israel’s need, YOU WILL COME. And all will say. “It is the God of Israel that has come to rescue His Own. Let the people see, let the people hear the mighty roar of Israel’s angel ‘Michael’ and let the wicked be confounded when they shall say ‘ah ha’ and work mischief on their bed.
    Amen.

    Stan,
I too feel the emotions you are carrying. I too am a Christian Zionist who longs for God’s name, His city Jerusalem, and His people Israel to be vindicated and be at peace in this world. But we know that according to the Bible, certain things must take place before all that becomes a reality. Unfortunately, Israel must yet undergo great trial and tribulation before they will recognize that Jesus is indeed their Messiah. Likewise, America as a Christian nation must undergo its own great trials and tribulations before it sees and comes to understand who it was that blessed her from her beginning. So as others have already expressed one way or another, what will occur at Annapolis shouldn’t surprise or shock us, because events seems to be going precisely as part of the script of the last days as I know it to be. Zechariah did say that “Jerusalem will become a burdensome stone,” but remember, it also says that “all who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces”. That last phrase gives me some comfort, although I and my countrymen may personally feel some of the effects of God’s displeasure to those who curse His people Israel according to Gen 12:3. Yes, we should continue praying for the peace of Jerusalem because one day there will be peace. In fact, one day all nations will come to Jerusalem to give homage to the King, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us fervrantly pray for the people of Israel and likewise for ourselves who have been blessed by God almighty. Too many have forgotten the commandments He gave to us so long ago. May the people awaken before it is too late. God only asks that we believe and remember Him above all else. Inevitably it is all in His hands.

Marsha, as I read your prayer, I also united my heart with you and all who are praying for Israel.
“But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend, “You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from it’s remotest parts, And said to you, “You are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you. Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Shurely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. “Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing, and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing, and non-existent. “For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, Do not fear, I will help you.
“Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you,” declares the LORD, “and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 41:8-14)
Nebuchadnezzar had to eat grass as a beast for 7 years before he recognized that God rules in the kingdom of men. I pray that Bush will wake up and realize that truth before he brings destruction on America. God is establishing Israel in her land for His Names sake and that the nations will know that He alone is God!

This is an awkward moment no doubt. God sovereign will is that this planet ends according to the inerrant scriptures. At first it appears ominous we are seeing the pivot point in which seemingly could bring in what the scriptures tells us about what is eventually going to happen. It may be too powerful to accept this moment or the fulfillment of things before our eyes. Yes God is in control, yes we win, yes pray with a heart & mindset of Matthew 22 and Revelation 19:7-8. We are marching to the end of time and my point is to be diligent with great urgency. I am very impressed with the sincerity of the posts here.

    Stan:

I, too, fear for us. Truly tremble in fear for us.

It’s not a lack of faith that G-d has all under His watchful eye that makes me fear. It’s the fact that He DOES see that which is ongoing that causes me cry out in my prayers for mercy. That which our leaders are doing TO the U.S. as a result of what they are doing TO Israel is nothing short of ignoring the very G-d many of them profess to serve.

I beg forgiveness and mercy on behalf of our country and on behalf of Israel because of the rebellion of our leaders.

May G-d step in, and may He preserve the land of Israel as He has declared her borders to be. May He remember His eternal promises to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob and their decendants to permanently settle them in His land Israel. May He, for His Namesake, silence the praises of the false gods of greed, oil, and power. May He, for His Namesake, silence those who say He is not as powerful as the entity called “allah”. May He, for His Namesake, no longer allow another god to be praised on HIS Holy Hill in the city He has placed His Name for eternity.

Let G-d arise, and let His enemies be scattered!

    amen

I love Israel, but it seems that most of God;s chosen still have their backs turned towards Him, instead of turning to Him. The Torah is clear on what God will do until Israel Trusts its maker. I to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and also that His people will come back to Him and worship Him in spirit and truth. You must trust Adonai. If your house is not built on a solid foundation, it will not stand. Pro 3:5-7 Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths. Don’t be conceited about your own wisdom; but fear Adonai, and turn from evil. Please Israel, turn back to Adonai, He still waits for you.

Psalm 83 A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. 2 See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. 3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. 4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.” 5 With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you-
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal, [a] Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre. 8 Even Assyria has joined them
to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.
    Selah
9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, 10 who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground. 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 12 who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.” 13 Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. 14 As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, 15 so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. 16 Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek your name, O LORD. 17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. 18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD—that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

    Excellent article Stan.
Watching what America’s leaders are doing, and considering God’s promise to bless those who bless Israel… and to curse those who curse Israel (Gen 12:3)
it becomes clear that if Annapolis goes ahead, God MUST bring judgement down on America… or apologise to Edom.

Anyone who wonders how God might react to America organising, hosting and celebrating the Annapolis ‘peace’ conference… forcing Israel to give away half of the Land of Israel to those who are sworn to destroy Israel… and to dividing Jerusalem… should read the Book of Obadiah.

Obadiah is the smallest book in the Bible… only 21 verses.
It is among the hardest to find and least read and least appreciated books.
But it is very very applicable to America at Annapolis.

I urge anyone who cares about America to get themselves a Bible and commentary and carefully read Obadiah.
    For ‘Edom’, read ‘America’…
and for ‘mount of Esau’ read ‘Capitol Hill and the White House’.

God punished Edom because they stood by passively, as Israel’s enemies
‘entered into Israel’s gates’ (entered Israeli towns) and ‘cast lots for Jerusalem’
(plotted to take Jerusalem)… and not only did nothing, but were happy about it.

Obadiah verses 12 to 14 list 8 reasons for God’s judgement.
4 of those 8 are that Edom (America) should not have:

    Gloated when Israel suffered calamity.
    Rejoiced when Judah was destroyed.
Spoken proudly in the day of Israel’s distress.
Looked on their affliction… (Joined others in gloating)

Annapolis perfectly matches these crimes that God punished Edom for.
On Monday 26 November, President Bush will host a celebration dinner
at the US State Dept in Washington. There he and Israel’s invited enemies
(no friends of Israel will be present) will gloat over Israel’s calamity…
will rejoice at the prospect of carving up Judea and Samaria…
and speak proudly about their evil plans to divide Israel’s Land.
And the Israeli delegation will sit quietly, like the Thanksgiving Turkey…

But God will not sit quietly.

Then on Tuesday 27 November, President Bush is due to start the Annapolis Conference with a ’substantive speech’ about Israel and ‘Palestine’.
When Bush speaks on Tuesday morning (Tuesday afternoon-evening in Israel)
it will be, as Stan wrote, exactly 60 years since the 1947 UN vote to divide Israel.

But God will have the last word.

    Israel will survive.

    America may not.

    Obadiah verse 15 says:
For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen.
As you have done, it shall be done to you.

If America curses and divides Israel,
God will do the same to America.

But upon Mount Zion there will be deliverance and holiness.
And the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

The people of Israel will posses the Land God gave them,
and will conquer those who conquered them.

Note that the first part of God’s judgement on Edom was that he took away all wisdom and understanding from Edom’s leaders.
The same thing is happening to America.
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…

But does President Bush and America’s leaders really have any fear of God?
Do they really fear what God might think of their plans to carve up Israel?

Obadiah has a message for America.

Choose life or death… choose blessings or curses.

Bless Israel and live with blessings…

or curse Israel and face the consequences.

I wonder if President Bush and Secretary Rice have ever read Obadiah?
And if so… why did they not learn anything from it?

It is all well and good that many are having the proper fear for America. But it seems to me everyone is looking thru eyes of flesh, not eyes of faith.

Fact is, God has made fantastic promises to Israel, but they will not be realized until Israel stops relying on her own power and strength and relies on His. Annapolis is a step toward that.

God has lways liked long odds, that way no man can take credit. By bringing Israel to a point where she could not possibly fight for herself, when God fights for her, it will be obvious Who has done it. It is all laid out in Obadiah, which no one has even referenced.

As for America, the very blessings have become idols to His people. This is why He is letting this go forth. I do not refer to the unsaved. God does not expect unsaved people to honor Him. I refer to the saved, the believers, who elevate money, things, success, and America herself over the holiness of God. They equate God with America, thus tainting His good name when America does her wickedness in the world, an example being invading a country which did nothing to us, and justifying the slaughter. Yet balking when money is requested to SAVE lives, as in health care.

There is always money to kill, never money to heal, and so many think God is okay with this because it’s AMERICA doing it. The association with US policy with the holiness of Christ has got to be severed. It can only happen if America is removed.

Thus Annapolis. Bush is our judgment. Evem before 2004, his wicked fruit was exposed, and Christians defended it. No matterh ow many tried to show them the truth. Now they fear when this man is preparing to defy the Living God before theie eyes.

Too late. Should have listened to the warnings. God will NOT relent, pray though we might, because He does not hear those who do not hear Him. If He does, the man worship continues, the warmongering continues, the mammon worship continues, the apostasy continues. There is much more at stake than America’s ‘way of life’. The very Name of God is on the line. He will not suffer this blasphemy forever.

Yes, be thankful. Be prayerful. But do not expect God to violate His word as a result. The judgment of America is laid out in Jer 50/51. Substitute Neb for Bush and you will understand. His people have become far too comfortable with the abundance of America, and she has taken their hearts from their first love. Since they will not judge themselves, the idol will be judged. it must be.We have seven years to figure it out, and all we do is yell ‘9/11′ and make it all okay.

    It is NOT okay.

God has Israel locked. Do not worry about her. Worry about America. Worry about those who still do not understand, and seek the counsel of MEN instead of the wisdom of God. Worry for those who have more faith in their money, the military, the preacher, and weapons of war, than in the sure word of the Living God.

Worry for those who keep equating the flag with the Cross. Yes, worry for them.

The conference at Annapolis is one more step toward the end time. The outcome could prove to be the last straw for Israel and cause her to come out of the corner fighting. We know that the world will be in utter turmoil when the false prophet and then anti-Messiah appear to peddle their false peace. The world will be in such upheaval that it will graciously accept the anti-Messiah as a “peace-maker.” I believe the decisions rendered in this conference will usher in a great disturbance and set the perfect scene for the false prophet and anti-Messiah. Unfortunately, as Bob pointed out, the precious Jewish people will accept the anti-Messiah and see him as the deliverer and peace-maker for which they have been waiting. The anti-Messiah will bring peace… for a short time. At the end of the first three and a half years, after the signing of the “covenant of peace,” the world and the Jewish people will come to find out that this man has betrayed them. But it is then that they will look upon the One whom they pierced and will mourn for Him.

“It will come about in all the Land,” Declares the LORD, “That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; but the third will be left in it. And I will bring the third part through the fire, refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’” (Zechariah 13:8-9)

1″ At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. . . .9 He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand. (Daniel 12:1-3, 9-10)

I will pray for the peace of Jerusalem! I will pray for my nation, and beg God to have mercy!

God bless you and yours, Stan!

How very appropriate, Moses was confronted with a burning bush & now we have
another kind of burning Bush, Deliverance cannot be far off. Praise YHWH, let
Him arise and let His enemies be scattered. Israel stand & see your salvation,
look up for your Redemption draws nigh. Let the World do its worst. Our Father
in Heaven Reigns on High, He wants all to turn & Repent (Teshuvah). He does
not want people to perish. All who have ears to hear heed the warnings, warn
others, bring out the Torah, 10 Words from the Ark of the Covenant & tell all the
truth. When the Ark went out with the Tablets of stone with the commands on,
Israel said ” Let G-d arise His enemies be scattered.” Bring back THE WORD,
Bring back the Ten Commandments, bring back Prayer. Repent & be saved.
Its the Goodness of YHWH that brings repentance, He does not want people to
perish. Call upon His Name YHWH in the Name of Yeshua our Messiah & be
SAVED. Israel, America’s, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia & all the Isles of the Sea.
First to the Jew & then to the Nations. We all need to repent of what we are doing.
For all that is said about America, Israel is going along with this & will also be
punished for not trusting YHWH. In the end YHWH will arise & His enemies will be
    scattered. Amein & Amein.

Bush’s idea of a Thanksgiving leftovers party sounds more like a barbecue of scoundrels! What kind of “friend” invites bullies - a blood-thirsty Mooslim lynch-mob of nations who crave Israel’s destruction - to a “peace” party (Amerikans are privy to absurd thematic and semantic gatherings)? A wolf, I tell you! A backstabber like Condi Rice and Co. whose policy of cut-and-paste - at the expense of Israel - is dastardly cruel. Who, in their right mind, would attend such a roast that is obviously non-Kosher? The Annapolis Roast is just another KKK rally, guised in the pageantry of yet another summit. If I were Israel, I’d look for better, more astute friends, who know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, fruit and swine. Turn Eastward… and Topple Olmert, Bush and Co.!

If this should be the conference that will lead to some sort of agreement between the Arab Muslims and Israel, then we can rejoice even more because as believers we know that our redemption draweth nigh. God has a 6,000 year plan for Gentile World Dominion and again we can rejoice in knowing that that that rule is almost over.

The US has been a mighty instrument in God’s plan in that this nation by God’s grace has been the world’s single greatest source of world evangelization and way station for the Jewish people. While that truth remains to this day, the US is also now the world’s single greatest source of corruption of the Word of God and is the leader in the satanic goal of a one world order and destruction of Israel.

As the corruption and paganization of religion and the whole society continues in the US and the whole world, we can expect further chastisements from God and again rejoice for our redemption draweth nigh. We do not rejoice at wickedness from Jews and Gentiles, but rather that our Father is moving His prophetic plan to continue to our translation and our return with the Lord Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom on Earth. Shalom HaMoshiach!!!

I sincerely hope Mr. Rubino is wrong. Let me point out though, that God has relented in the past from destroying a nation or kingdom (check out Exodus 32 and the book of Jonah). Will God’s judgement fall on the United States for its active role in dividing up the land of Israel? Yes. But to what extent? God’s people in the USA must pray and ask for forgivenenss for OUR sins and the sins of our leaders. He has always shown mercy to a truly repentent people. Also pray that Annapolis gathering will be full of confusion. God has used that one also.

I WILL TAKE MY REST IN MY LORD, LIKE IT SAYS IN PSALM 37:1-7
(1 )FRET NOT THYSELF BECAUSE OF EVILDOERS, NITHER BE THOU ENVIOUS AGAINST THE WORKERS OF INIQUITY.(2) FOR THEY SHALL SOON BE CUT DOWN LIKE THE GRASS, AND WITHER AS THE GREEN HERB.(3)TRUST IN THE LORD AND DO GOOD; SO SHALT THOU DWELL IN THE LAND ,AND VERILY THOU SHALT BE FED. (4) DELIGHT THYSELF ALSO IN THE LORD; AND HE SHALL GIVE THEE THE DESIRES OF THINE HEART. (5) COMMIT THY WAY UNTO THE LORD; TRUST ALSO IN HIM; AND HE SHALL BRING IT TO PASS. (6) AND HE SHALL BRING FORTH THY RIGHTEOUSNESS AS THE LIGHT, AND THY JUDGMENT AS THE NOONDAY. (7) REST IN THE LORD, AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM; FRET NOT THYSELF BECAUSE OF HIM WHO PROSPERETH IN HIS WAY, BECAUSE OF THE MAN WHO BRINGETH WICKED DEVICES TO PASS.
YES I WILL REST IN MY LORD, AND AS ISRAEL SHOULD.

Thank you Stan for another excellent and timely article. After reading all of the comments, I have come to the conclusion that there is still time for me to continue to pray, but I will also be fasting on Tuesday, even tho, I am diabetic. I love Israel, and I love America, but am concerned greatly for both. I appreciate those comments backed up with Scripture, especially Mr. Rowntree and Deborah. It would seem that if we fast and pray, we would have no regrets about the results, because we have done all we can do. If God does decide to bring judgement from this, because of men’s lustful pride ,arrogance and selfish Godlessness, then I pray His purpose be fulfilled. Meanwhile, as Moses in Exodus 32:9-14, I will plead for Israel and for America also.

    Hi Stan,
I too fear for America, she is walking a very fine line between blessing and judgement, with only her support of Israel holding back the judgement due to this nation. I pray for this nation but more importantly I continue to hold the Nation of Israel, and the people of Israel dispersed throughout the world, in prayer: That blind eyes might be opened, that deaf ears will be unstopped, that Yahweh will remove their hearts of stone and replace them with a heart of flesh, that they may hear and see and know in their hearts that Yeshuah is the Messiah the son of the living God, and that in Him are the words of eternal life, that they may turn to Him and be healed; they and there land. Only then can peace come to the Nation of Israel and the world,

I am at a loss for words regarding this tragedy. I had so hoped that President Bush would have the good sense to remain a “true” friend of Israel but he has not. I am deeply concerned for the upcoming election as we do not have a conservative candidate that has God’s agenda above his own or those of his/her counselors. Even if we did, it would be remarkably easy for organizers to falsify votes by computer without anyone ever finding out. So basically, unless God intervenes/hears the prayers of the few, all we can do is plead for His mercy. Shalom ~ Marie from Tennessee

I do sympathize with Israel, but in the same time I do not believe that the whole American nation is responsible for some bad decisions of a few leaders of this country. Just like the first person who commented above: America is a tool, and God is going to use it to fulfill some the Bible profecies either we like it or not ! And if we hate one another because we disagree with what our leaders decide, we are no better than the pharisees!

Regarding Mr. Olmert: I am dumbfounded in a way and yet, as a secular leader rather than a religious leader, I should not be surprised. It is just that I would hope that he knows the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I’m not saying that he doesn’t but only that he doesn’t understand HIS agenda for his people, Israel. Lord, have mercy. b’Shem Yeshua ~ Amen

Here’s my humble opinion, for what it’s worth. I think God will punish America in proportion to what America inflicts on Israel. If the land is divided then I can see America being divided also, possibly in some catastrophic manner (maybe at the hands of terrorists, who knows - time will tell).
However, God is the landlord of Israel and the Bible is quite clear about her future - she will exist after the antichrist et al have been destroyed but I don’t think the same can be said for those nations who have acted against her.
I am personally disgusted with America and all these other nations for plotting this evil thing, just who do they think they are?
People increasingly regard “God” as some fictitious entity out of a storybook, but they are going to have cause to reflect on how all-powerful and mighty this God is, and that He is not to be messed with.
Whatever happens, I feel judgment is coming and it will be severe, in fact I wouldn’t be at all surprised if what happens to the USA will make “9/11″ seem like a walk in the park - and to that end I feel painful sorrow for those who will be affected.
These are, however, signs of the [end] times and the world is led by morally corrupt, power-hungry, God-less evil men and women and God will make sure His will is done for His eternal glory so that all the world will know He is in charge.
Boy, I can’t wait to get off this planet and into my resurrection body!
May the King of Heaven bless you and keep you in these dark days.
    Come Jesus, come soon.
    Shalom.

I was a wanderer like ISRAEL is. BUT YHVH has shown me mercy and grace unlimited times. I have had to go to the desert to see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears what HE wants for me and that he has for me a wonderful life filled with HIM and HIS RUACH and HIS SON! I have been extended this many times before but I refused it. I now cry like an infant because I wasted so much time before and yet I am happy to tell the world HE has saved me from destruction!! AMEN!! I also do not want destruction for HIS Jerusalem, IRAEL, and America. Therefore I see the upcoming events as HIS Word Predicted long ago and it has to occur for ISRAEL to turn from her evil ways and to turn back to HIM. JERUSALEM is the apple of HIS eye and HE sent HIS Beloved son YEHOSHUA to die for all of us no matter what country you are from, including the Muslim world. America and many in ISRAEL have to turn their lives around so they can see YHVH!!! HE saved me! I extend my hand to Israel and to America and to anyone who doubts HIM to turn from their evil ways and to turn towards the GOD of ABRAHAM, ISASAC AND JACOB! The key is they have to want it and as far as I can see they do not want it including Olmert. I am sure that no one reading these commentaries wants destruction to befall either Israel or America and does infact want them to turn away from their secular ways and to turn towards YHVH I also want that, however, it is already written that these things must happen for the change to take place. I am remeinded many many years ago when the world was full of people that only 8 were worthy of salvation! Our Messiah told us the times would be like that of NOACH, Mat 24:36 “But concerning that day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers of the heavens, but My Father only. Mat 24:37 “And as the days of Noaḥ, so also shall the coming of the Son of Aḏam be.
Mat 24:38 “For as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noaḥ entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 and they did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also shall the coming of the Son of Aḏam be.
I know the destruction this time will not be by flood as our Heavenly Father Promised HE would not do again, then it will be by fire. I continue to pray for Israel and especially JERUSALEM and of course America.
I have learned something today, I can do more and that is to fast and pray for her. Thank you for your comments especially to Stan for his excellent work and his faithfullness and devotion to YHVH and to ISRAEL.
MAY YHVH BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU AND MAY HE MAKE HIS COUNTENANCE SHINE UPON YOU AND GRANT YOU HIS PEACE, HIS SHALOM. AMEIN!!!

You probably have already landed in the US to bear witness to this travesty. However, here in your home town, Jerusalem while I was relaxing in my living room the entire apartment building shook from a minor earth quake…the third in one week.

I soon realized as I looked out upon the quiet Shabbat streets for a heavy truck passing by, that we must also fear for our nation Stan. So bear witness to the injustice of the nations gathered then get back home as soon as you can.

In reply to Elena Guldan’s comment that:

I do not believe that the whole American nation is responsible for some bad decisions of a few leaders of this country.

Unfortunately, the Bible records that while emperors and kings and rulers and leaders often make bad decisions and act with evil intentions towards Israel…
God’s judgement falls not only on those at the top, who make the evil choices…
but on all of their people.

For example, when the Pharoah repeatedly defied God
and refused to allow the people of Israel to go free… what happened?
God punished not only the Pharoah, who was responsible for those bad decisions… but also the people of Egypt too.

That might seem unfair. You might argue that since only the Pharoah was responsible, he alone should bear God’s punishment…
and why should the ‘ordinary’ Egyptian suffer when he was powerless to force Pharoah to do the right thing?

Those are questions to ask God one day, in Eternity.

For now, we must live with the fact that while our leaders can make good or bad choices, the ordinary people have no choice but to live (or die) with the consequences of their leaders bad choices.

Maybe that is one of the reasons why Paul urges Christians to pray for their country’s leaders and those who have power?

    Elena also commented:

America is a tool, and God is going to use it to fulfill some the Bible profecies either we like it or not !

That is true. God does use nations like America or Babylon or Egypt as tools
to bring judgement or blessing… but the fact that God is using a nation as a tool to carry out his purposes does not remove the responsibility of that nation and its leaders to act for good, and not for evil, within the mandate God has given them.

Remember that God often raised up enemies to punish Israel for their rebellion and disobedience… but after Israel learned their lesson and were restored,
God then punished the nation he had allowed to act against Israel earlier.

There is no escape from God.
And no escape from the consequences of our leaders bad decisions
or evil policies… especially in matters concerning Israel.

Referring to James Rowntree’s post above, it is a good time to point out that the Haftarah - the scripture portion read this week for Shabbat - IS the book of Obadiah.

As a resident of the US, I too fear for this country, for God has promised He will bring judgement to those who divide up his land. It may be that He will preserve the righteous - as he has done before - or it may be that we will overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony. But we must be prepared to “love not [our] lives to the death. ” There are things more important than me preserving my prosperity, lifestyle or even my life. That which is more important IS my testimony of who God is, what He has promised, and that He has the power to accomplish it. We are seeing that every day - prophecies and promises given thousands of years ago - fulfilled in our lifetime - before our eyes.

It breaks my heart to see God’s Land divided - but He said countless generations ago that it would be this way. He chose that Torah portion for this particular Shabbat, to tell those who bring about this heinous act, what he will do to them for this rebellion against His sovereignty and will. It is all His plan, but we are no less called to intercede - with all our hearts. It is also His plan and will to bring His chosen, and His Land, to a glorious future, when their King comes to dwell with them in the earth.

Zechariah 1:18-21 speaks of four horns (symbols of strength/governments). I submit that we are seeing, at Annapolis, the policies of the Quartet (US, UN, EU, Russia) being brought to fruition. There are four smiths who will subseqently terrorize the four horns. America be warned.

Brother Stan, We will be watching for your comments the next few days; and we will be praying for you, your family and the peace of Jerusalem and the land of Israel. We were so blessed to have you and your family minister to our church in New Bern, NC during your year of travel across the USA. Our hearts are so broken over the decisions our president is making regarding Israel. As a nation, however, we have turned our back on the Lord and our sins prevent Him from giving our leaders wisdom and clear vision. The almost weekly exposure of immoral behaviour, oppulant life style, and scandal among “church leadership” should open the eyes of any discerning true believer. The Lord will shake out the chaff and purify the church even thru the fire of persecution. We have been so blessed by God in America, we have grown accustomed to that blessing and have been lulled to sleep. Please, Christians, wake up, WAKE UP! Fill your lamps NOW, do not sleep on like THE FOOLISH VIRGINS. May the Lord have mercy on us; for the sake of our little ones (we have 10 precious grandchildren). May He remember mercy even in judgement. May we have His grace & power to endure to the end by the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God who has redeemed us.
If we do not see you again on earth, Brother Stan, we will meet you in the New Jerusalem because of Jesus our Saviour and Lord. Give our love to your family.

Why fear? America is not an enduring land of bliss and prosperity; that will only be a reality when Jesus, the Messiah comes to reign on earth.. I am not sorry to die and leave (if it comes down to that) this corrupt, carnal nation. I do not worship America or it’s carnal leaders. I was born here because that is where God chose to send me. I have lived for Him since I was a small child. I do not live for America. I am a citizen of the Heavenlies. I was sent here to serve God, but I am only a pilgrim on earth. This place is not my home. First, we would like to say that we are for Israel & are against making a Palestinian state. Israel is the land our God gave her.
However, you had a King David who, against what God had ordered, did not eradicate the Palestinians. Now, we’re all paying for that mistake. Still, we pray for Israel & ask our God to bring peace & safety yo His land.

I agree with Stan. We should still pray for the peace of Jerusalem. But we should also pray that God changes the heart of those who are doing this thing; Bush, Rice and the rest of them. Stan, thank you. I feel exactly as you do, and I am an American. Though America has always been recognized as a christian nation because of her christian roots, I disagree with that. The founders of this country were Bible believeing christians. Born again though? I don’t think so.
America and all of it’s monuments that stand tall were all built by or donated by the Masonic Lodge. ths country is controlled by third degree masons and always has been.

Another thing to remember is, there is only ONE nation whom God ever made a covenant with. That nation is Israel. There are no promises for America. Promises for us as individuals… YES. But not as a nation. We can’t even find America written in prophecy for the last days. Unless, we are the Babylon. Which I do believe we are. I believe America’s days of wealth and power are numbered. We will either be crippled so badly, or… gone. Why else would Europe take over?

This country is evil through and through!

AND, the evil deeds of the Bush administration with dividing Israel’s land, has just sealed our fate. There have been way too many prophetic warnings about America’s destruction. These warnings are not coming from the loony tv evangelists. They are coming from righteous men of God… overcomers.

The good news is, God has a remnant here in America! Just as He has a remant in every nation of the world! In the midst of the fire a song will rise up out of the sea, from every nation of the world… and praise His Majesty!!! Hallelujah!!!!!

As an American, I can only sum up my current spiritual and emotional position as “grieving”. I grieve for the fact that America can even consider, let alone lead such an unscriptural, evil and devisive move against the Land of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. I also grieve for the future devastation this will bring on this nation.

I can only say to my brothers and sister in Israel, may God be gracious to you. HaShem will fight for you and any that stand against you will fall.

    Shalom and Blessings,

Thank you for your comments and your concerns, there are many of Christians in America that believe in the whole Bible rightly divided and know what disastrous consequences can result from this. God tells us that he will bless those who bless his people and curse those who curse his people. I do fear more for my children and children’s children who will have to suffer through the things that may come if certain things come to pass to harm Israel’s well being. We will stay in prayer about this matter that God may touch the minds of those who are in attendance in this meeting that fear him and show them the truth.

“God has blessed so many by giving his Son on the cross that we may be forgiven our sins and enjoy our rest in Him. I pray that God will touch the hearts of all those who stand to represent there Nations that Jesus may be revealed to them and they may know the grace of God. Through Christ they can find the strength that it takes to run a nation according to God’s will and not man’s. May God strengthen us and give us the wisdom to help in this matter any way he can use us. In Jesus name amen”

To Stan & others who are praying for the peace of Jerusalem, I stand in agreement with you in praying for Israel. I fear for our great country, America, and pray that our people will turn back to God, repent, and put their faith in Him and our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I also pray that the plans of the world leaders who have come together in Anapolis, Maryland will be brought to naught if they try to bring about the division of God’s land, Israel. I pray that God will give our President the wisdom to make the right decisions regarding Israel. I believe that George Bush wants to do the right thing, and I pray that God will enlighten him to what His Word says about this situation. I would advise him to read the 3rd chapter of Joel.

Yes i agree with the article. It seems that our leaders claim to be christian but it looks to me that they want to “sell” Israel out, for this I am deeply sad. But one must wonder inthis time day and age that this is all G d”s will and this is happeninmg because this might be the end of times as we know it. Everything is very interesting, the political leaders world wide lie and decieve their people all in the name of money. I shall pray for peace in Israel , as well as Jerusalem . Hi, I am so thankful to read Stan’s article about dividing Israel.
I am also thankful for all those who commented on this article and I agree with most of them.
I am also praying for the peace of Jerusalem and I am confident that one day there will be peace but not trough the Annapolis meetings.
On the one hand I am almost angry at Mr Bush and Mr Olmert, but I realize that if God want to show His sovereignty no one can stop Him, and if He hardened Pharaoh’s heart He will harden Mr Olmert’s and Mr Bush’s too.

So, let us pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Praise be to the God of the whole universe, His Son Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit always, Amen.
