It will not surprise me at all if, when US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice returns to Israel next week to invite participants to the Annapolis ‘Conference on the Creation of Palestine on Jewish Land,’ that the date she has chosen to convene the event turns out to be November 29.
As Rice sees things, the irony of this choice of date would be positive, injecting some sense of hopefulness into the long-hopeless US-pushed pursuit of Arab-Israeli peace.
The State Department could spin November 29 to generate optimism: It would mark a return to the past, they could say; the chance to heal the sore at its source; a reversal of the disastrous decisions that ignited and continue to fuel the unending conflict in the Middle East.
For Bible-believing Christian Zionists, to hold this conference on November 29 would support what many of us already hold to be true: that the real aim of the land-for-peace process (whether Rice and her president know it or not) is the reversal of something different: the rolling back of the process of Israel’s physical national restoration which God Himself has ordained and brought about.
As such, it is doubly futile - for who do the Quartet and the UN Security Council think that they are to go against the very will and purpose of the LORD of hosts?
Certainly, if November 29 is the date drawn, it will not be a mere coincidence.
It was on November 29, 60 years ago, that all creation appeared to hold its breath.
On that day in 1947, the nations watched, the Jews prayed, and the Arabs oiled their guns.
On that unprecedented day in the history of nations, the UN voted 33 to 13 (with 10 abstentions) to divide the British-mandated area called “Palestine” between the Jews and the Arabs laying claim to it.
Like a massive final contraction after years of birth pangs, General Assembly Resolution 181 opened the way through which the ancient nation of Israel could finally be reborn on its historic homeland.
Not that the battle for her independence was over. Within hours of the partition vote Israel’s enemies began searching for a way to rescind and annul that decision.
But they were wasting their time. Less than six months later, on May 15, 1948, the State of Israel came into being on it’s God-given land.
It was as foretold by the prophet Isaiah thousands of years before:
“… Who has heard such a thing?
Who has seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day?
Or shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion was in labor,
She gave birth to her children. … ”
(Isaiah 66:8)
From that day to this, those who hate Zion (and in truth they really hate the LORD who has chosen Zion) have sought to destroy her.
The surrounding Arab states have attacked Israel time and time again. The “Palestinian” Arabs have waged a relentless terrorism and propaganda campaign against the Jewish state to demoralize its citizens and delegitimise it in front of the international community. The industrial powers have sided “pragmatically” with the oil-rich Arabs and have pushed Israel into prejudicing its security and surrendering its millennia-old claim to its land.
The currently Christian-led United States is leading the charge and, for the Bush administration, decision day is already past.
Some die-hard Christian Republicans still insist that Bush and Rice are sincerely acting in what they believe to be Israel’s ultimate best interests. Even if they are [which I personally have a hard time hanging on to - Ed] they have gotten into bed with other “western” leaders who long ago ran out of patience with this “shxxty little country”.
Leaders like European MP and former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard, who reportedly told an audience in Cairo on June 17, 2004, that “the origin of the Palestinian problem is in the promise given by the British to the Jews to establish a nationalist state on the basis of the religious conviction that the Jews have a right to this land… It was an historic error on the part of the British to make such a promise, but this now belongs to history.”
Such sentiments have also infected morer “ordinary” men on the street. On July 18, 2006, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen wrote: “…Israel itself is a mistake. It is an honest mistake, a well-intentioned mistake, a mistake for which no one is culpable, but the idea of creating a nation of European Jews in an area of Arab Muslims (and some Christians) has produced a century of warfare and terrorism of the sort we are seeing now.”
Yes, 60 years ago this month, a reluctant gentile world still somewhat shaken up by the horrific sights revealed by the liberation of Hitler’s Death Camps, scraped together just enough compassion to support the establishment of a homeland for the Jews.
That compassion has long gone.
Israel is not much more than a nuisance; a thorn in the side of the world. The nation’s Jews, then, must be made to pay, compensating the Arabs and mollifying them, so that the threat Israel’s policies pose to world peace will be removed.
For the Islamic world, what the US wants to achieve at Annapolis is just phase one of the plan that will excise the Jewish cancer once and for all from their midst.
The creation of Palestine may appear to be more or less the belated implementation of Resolution 181. But not to forget, as Arafat used to say:Â the Arab world rejected that resolution, rendering it void.
For them, establishing a Palestinian state is not correcting that misstep. It is preparing for the correcting and erasing of the entire “mistake” that enabled Israel’s rebirth.
How encouraging then to know beyond any shadow of a doubt, that the Shepherd of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps; that He is and will continue to defend her; and that He who brought Israel safely to the time of her physical rebirth nearly has promised to also bring her to her glorious, national, spiritual rebirth, right here in her land.
The only One who is going to be doing any “rolling up” is Israel’s God. And it is the self-important and arrogant nations He will gather, to place inside and crush in the wine press of His wrath.

Once again, you are right on target with this article. What we experienced in Israel opened our eyes and etched our souls in ways that only a visit to The Land can. As we stood on Masada overlooking the seige ramp, I realized that the whole world, it seems, is standing against Israel as the Romans stood against the Jewish freedom fighters who were barricaded inside that fortress. “Masada shall not fall again!” must be our prayer.
Toward the end of our three week stay, learning more and more, I became aware of something I couldn’t quite name, because “depression” was the wrong word, but there were signs everywhere of emotional crisis. Wonderful article… It is in wonder that we as Christians stand by and look at prophecy once again being fulfilled. I know that President Bush professes to be a Christian, and I believe he is. But I wonder who is giving him advise concerning this? It can’t be anybody that has any knowledge of the Israel - Palestinian problem… or better the deeper problem of Isaac and Ishmael …. the real start to this feud. As I believe we all know this will never end by man’s intervention. Only God will end it in His time. In my lifetime I cannot recall a time when I truly believed that the coming of the Lord for His people was at hand. It still may be some years away, but the “birth pangs” of this earth is ever increasing.

Your journalistic work is outstanding! For those ears that hear and recognise your words, it is refreshing to know we are not alone in the loneliness of a world that has turned their backs on Israel. Those that turn their heads towards Islam, choose death, and they know not at what they stumble! I don’t for a moment believe Rice or Bush are either one acting out of ignorance…there are higher stakes at risk here, than any of us realize. The rampant replacement theology is affecting more than just the gullible and God will not be mocked; He will deal with those who seek Israel’s demise. I tremble for our land, and pray eyes and hearts will be opened to this devastating deception before another tragedy strikes.

Very well put. I’m in the process of writing an article for the Jewish Federation in New Hampshire about my recent trip to Israel. Though I didn’t word it exactly like you, the message is similar (same spirit!).
I can’t tell you how heavy my heart is anticipating this event in Maryland. I’m still holding out hope that it wont happen and that Abbas will walk away “disgusted” and resign because he can’t get his own way. I can’t see Israel allowing itself to be dragged into this! WHY don’t they speak up? WHY don’t they say “NO”! Just ….NO! Shock us all! Why be led like a lamb to the slaughter? They can slam on the brakes, take control and tell the rest of the world to just get lost! I’m sorry if that doesn’t sound very Christ-like - but it angers me that they won’t stand up for themselves.
I just made my first trip to Israel to let the people there know we care and we stand with them. We don’t want to see more bloodshed and heart ache. I know they don’t either. Giving up more land for peace won’t work! It’s like oil and water - it may blend for a very short time - but it quickly separates. In the long run, there is only more heartache and loss of lives for this nation.
I just want Israel to see it’s treasured place in God’s heart. He never left her. He is standing at the ready to come and assist her. I just want so much for them to stand in the power of their covenant relationship with the ONE TRUE GOD so that they free him, through their faith, to act mightily on their behalf. The God of Israel has kept Israel for 60 years, and He will keep Israel for another 60 years. My prayer is that Christian countries like the United States would help God in this and not hinder Him.
Israel’s greatest enemies live right inside the very heart of Israel — these are the peace-fakers: the left wing, small “l” liberals who would, like fakirs, give their very soul/land away rather than to honestly deal with the core of the problem. How good it is to know that there are 7000 “out there in Blogland” who have not bowed the knee to Baal of Washington DC. I tend to despair for Israel and the USA: one asks “Doesn’t anyone see what’s happening and what’s going to happen?” We KNOW that Israel must suffer before she repents and turns to her Messiah (in utter desperation) but the agony of seeing Israel treated this way by nations which should know better is exasperating. The “Maryland” political ploy to make the world think peace between Arabs and Jews is possible will be the catalyst leading to more confrontations. When the American “Roadmap” fails, you will see the United Nations/European Union attempting to fill the vacuum. This will ultimately lead to a false peace and a final war!
Great article. I found it especially interesting that the man from The Washington Post, Richard Cohen, is himself a decendant of the Israeli people. His last name places him in the Levite family if I remember correctly. It means cohenim or priest and here he is denouncing his own ancestry. The Day of our Lord is coming and this just confirms it.
A friend just recently said to a group of us that our prayers need to be for Benjamin. God’s word says that it is the tribe of Benjamin that is the last to come to Him. Let’s pray that this is soon.

In 2Th 2 we read “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. The Annapolis Summit according to the latest reports will be held November 26-27 at the Naval Academy in Maryland. This summit having been brokered by President Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and a collection of varied nations - among them countries that have called for the destruction of Israel - is at best despicable and vain.
Why? Because in reality there is no true peace abiding in the spirits, hearts, minds or souls of the enemies of Israel who will be sitting at the table with them at Annapolis. The only thing being served for dinner at this table - is Israel - and on an enemy’s dirty platter - AGAIN!
Educated terrorists dressed in pricey suits are insufficient to smoke screen those who stand upon the foundation of scripture and understand the clear fulfillment of prophecy that has come to pass in our day, or, is in the process of fulfillment concerning Israel. I ask, what kind of G-d would we have if He were to plant Israel with all of His heart and soul after a 2,000 year dispersion only to the end of allowing her to be uprooted and destroyed again?
For those who do not favor reading scripture at this time, history is replete with it’s recording of that which Israel has faced as a nation and people leading up to her restoration and since then. It must be asked, what people in this historical light, has risen again after having been destroyed as a nation? None.
Nothing that happens at the Annapolis Summit as formed under the auspices of the United States or any other nation, will be able to truly change that which the L-rd G-d decreed for Israel. It is time that the world at large and particularly those of the household of faith who are yet unaware, wake up and bring into the fore-front of their spirit, heart, mind and soul, the Ever Present Truth and Reality as Mandated for Israel by a very Living G-d.
This G-d, the LIVING G-D of Israel and all the earth, is NOT but a mere distant mirage of non-existence. He does not watch upon the affairs of men from a dis-interested distance. He is as creator of heaven and earth, the One True Final Authority by which Israel shall CONTINUE eternally with Jerusalem as her capital.
While man is granted free will, and in that, the power to choose as he or she will, it is abiding wisdom in any individual to come to realize that in learning of, and choosing to fully support the L-rd’s Will for Israel, free choice meets its peaceful match and place of true rest. Any choice to the contrary of G-ds Will, is guaranteed to only continue to add to the global pot of division and strife that spills over; sooner or later it always creates a myriad of carnage for Israel.
But, as evidenced by 9/11 and various other acts of devious atrocity through-out the world - as brought on by the hands of terrorists - this carnage will surely go forth moreso unto other nations of the world. The cup of trembling as spoken of by the prophet Isaiah has passed from Israel and will meet the hands of other nations which afflict her.
‘Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again: But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over. (Isaiah 51:22-23)
