President George W. Bush made the first critical mistake when – in an effort to prevent a backlash against peaceful American Muslims – he moved quickly after 9-11 to stress that the enemy that had perpetrated the worst attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor was not “Islam” but “radical Islam.”
The enemy, the former president insisted – against all the available historical evidence – was not the religion. “Islam is a religion of peace.”
Bush’s effort to walk the politically acceptable walk was picked up and pushed to the limit by the other nations of the world (almost all of them Bush-hating), and especially by the Islamic ones.
But even as they applauded his reluctance to call a spade a Muslim (while despising him for it), the Islamic states – most of which actively and ardently support Islamic terrorist organizations – never imagined that the NEXT American president would let the Islamic world – which is involved in almost every conflict on the globe today – completely off the hook.
But that is what Barack Obama has decided to do – according to widely and wildly circulating press reports Wednesday.
As the Associated Press had it:
“President Barack Obama’s advisers will remove religious terms such as “Islamic extremism” from the central document outlining the US national security strategy and will use the rewritten document to emphasize that the United States does not view Muslim nations through the lens of terror…
“The change is a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventative war and currently states: “The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century.”
“… rewriting the strategy document will be the latest example of Obama putting his stamp on US foreign policy, like his promises to dismantle nuclear weapons and limit the situations in which they can be used.”
Not only are Muslims not the cause/source of most terrorism. Neither, in the view of the Obama administration, are radical Muslims.
Where, then does this leave us – apart from with an even stronger suspicion than we have had up till now that Obama himself prays to Allah in his closet?
For Israel – the hundreds of millions of Muslims who surround this little country and seek its destruction – the enemy has just become nameless.
And those calling America the “great Satan” are no longer Islamic radicals. I guess they are just misguided individuals – errant members of the great global village; the international community of nations.
Their religion – whose founder was himself a terrorist and which demands from every one of its adherents a commitment to jihad – holy war; is really not the issue at all.
Is it?

We will no longer identify our enemies as enemies, but we will also not retaliate against them if they attack us with chemical, biological or cyber attacks. of course the exception is Iran and N. Korea who we will talk to death before deciding to do anything about these evil people. The American people have no idea the path that they are being led down. Many, not all and maybe not even most, but many of us in the USA are fully aware and have been aware of Obama’s intentions from the first to destroy us AND Israel. I can only surmise that the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the eyes of those who do not (and who refuse to) see the Truth. But this I know: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is in FULL control and His will be done! Praying for the peace of Jerusalem and the soon return of our Lord Jesus the Christ.

This will be turned against Israel, won’t it. Haven’t really thought this through, but on a very simple level if the enemy becomes nameless then ‘Israel’ stands out like neon against such a backdrop, doesn’t she; so much easier for the world to point the finger of blame at who/what is immediately identifiable. Obama’s nuclear strategy will do the same thing, I suppose; some twist will paint Israel further into a corner, make her more the scapegoat. This on top of Obama’s calculated outburst to housing approvals in East Jerusalem; as observers note, now that the U.S. calls East Jerusalem construction ’settlement building’ (and therefore unlawful), the Arabs will never call it anything else.
It seems the punches from Obama are coming at Israel one after the other; after East J, it feels as though finally his gloves have come off and he will attempt to maintain the momentum.
He is up against the God of Israel, to whom Jerusalem belongs. Zechariah 1:17 tells us: “The Lord Almighty says that…he will once again help Jerusalem and claim the city as his own.” And in Zech 2:10: “The Lord said, “Sing for joy, people of Jerusalem! I am coming to live among you.”
As for me, as things unfold, I find sometimes the sadness becomes too big to sing; I think God’s heart is breaking. So I keep close Isaiah 30:15: “In quietness and confidence shall be your strength” and increasingly Zech 2:13: “Be silent, everyone, in the presence of the Lord, for he is coming from his holy dwelling-place.”

Abide in Christ and let Christ abide in your hearts by faith and you will receive life and abundant life to forgive your enemies, to love the brethren, and to endure to the end while being a blessing and a testimony. This is the abundant life obtained by faith that the Lord offers to everyone who will believe on his Name and be saved. This is the faith spoken of in Hebrews 11. Do not fear, be encouraged, be strong. He is faithful who also will do it. Dear Father, Dear Lord Jesus, bless these words and let them be an encouragement to all who read them. BUT - this is exactly as it’s supposed to be, because the God of Israel is bringing Israel into isolation, to the place where she has NO ONE to turn to — but HIM — and that’s exactly where she needs to be.
So our response is that we not look at it through human eyes - who could bear it? - but to understand that this is going to end in Israel’s redemption and to pray earnestly for Israel - that their hearts be turned to their God.

Fortunately God has the first and last words concerning the fate of mankind. Is it any wonder that Jesus did not trust people? (John 2:24, 25) He knew what was in man. Obama??? Have we come to the point when we believe that politicians can save us? The very best we can do is individually conform to the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29), possess love (1Corinthians 13), pray without ceasing, and contribute our finances and our sweat, if possible. Grumbling about politicians will not get the job done. Fear of nuclear war, or anything other than the Lord, will entrap you in Godless limbo.

Even as we watch and wait and pray, even as we step into the peace of God, even as we understand that true peace is coming and that Israel will take her place at the head of the nations, I still believe that God shares His heart with us and that He finds no pleasure in judgement. I still believe His heart aches even as He brings His plan calmly and steadily to fruition. He is God of all creation but never too big to feel.

Yes the Islamic writing is surely upon the white house walls for the Jewish nation & their supporters. The state of Israel has been seeing its honeymoon period of support in the west declining for a number of years, but this is to be expected as most things in life seem to go in cycles. A famous singer of American/ Jewish heritage once sang “the times they are a changing” & especially for Israel & America. But we can be assured that there is an end purpose in the restoration of the Jews to their historic lands. The writings of the early Brethren leader JN Darby & others I have found insightful & helpful for the Biblical intentions of the Jews.

I agree with you Stan about the mistake Bush made, when he called Islam a Religion of peace.
I also believed at that time, since I lived there, that Bush was the last chance from God to call America to repentance. It would have been a great chance to stop the bashing of Christians and Christian values.
But he didn’t do it.
I firmly believe, he is an honest man with some bad advisers which did not like him at all, he was proud to call Jesus his savior; many other politicians are not able to do so.
However, after Bush got trashed in a way, which has not been seen before, America got, what it wanted:
A Liar, a blender, a pretender, and a Muslim at heart.
The more happens, the more it is troubling in what speed we are going towards a disaster, which will end with the coming of our Lord Jesus.
Obama cancels the missile shield on the 70th birthday of the Russian invasion in Poland, he bows to the most radical Muslim nation, he smiles with all the enemies, he rebukes Israel everywhere; it is just a question of time when he will have tea with the mad dog in Iran.
So we will keep on proclaiming Jesus and not to worry:

There are more for Israel here in the USA than you are being lead to believe. Along with that group are huge groups of people that know what is coming down and Obama, well, he is a fragment of dust that the ruler of this world is currently using to TRY to gain power here in the States. My dear brother in Christ, it isn’t going to happen! God’s word and Jesus spoke it “The gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Body of Believers.” I know, I paraphrased it but you see, not everything that is named a church is a true body of believers. We are full aware of the prophecy about the falling away from the churches/faith but you see, right now all that Obama is accomplishing is drawing the lines between real Believers and the pretenders.
