Firepan in the woodpile

Posted on Monday 22 February 2010

In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem. (Zechariah 12:6)

World leaders are beside themselves.

Israel – it is universally reported – sent an intelligence team to take out one of the Jewish people’s many enemies. The team used fraudulent passports and other people’s identities to carry out the operation.

Hamas’ murderer and senior member Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was found dead in his Dubai hotel room January 20.

According to first reports, he had died after “a long illness.” Hamas itself tied his death to “a medical issue.” Then, when his body arrived in Damascus, Syrian authorities called and told his brother that Mabhouh had been “assassinated by Israel.”

Almost a full month after his passing, Dubai police suddenly announced that they are “99 percent certain” the Mossad – Israel’s version of the CIA (only with a more impressive track record) – had eliminated him.

The Mossad – the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations – does not comment on such allegations.

After a full year of worldwide demonization since Israel launched a self-defensive military operation against Hamas in Gaza, the international community was poised to seize the accusation and run with it.

On February 21, the British newspaper – the Sunday Times – reported as fact that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the killing.

Outrage is boomeranging round the world. The United Kingdom and France have expressed their hypocritical horror that Israeli spies would use Irish and French passports and false identities to perpetrate such an action. Israeli diplomats are being called onto the carpet to “explain.”

A few comments:

  • As Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated Monday, the Arab states are always blaming Israel for all sorts of things – including perpetrating deliberate massacres of Arab civilians and stealing Arab lands.
  • All nations – including England and France – employ spying techniques that break the laws of the countries they are spying on.
  • As far as Israel is concerned, Mahbouh was an enemy combatant and a legitimate target. Hamas is in a state of war against Israel. Mahbouh – according to the terror organization and according to his own brother – was personally responsible for the kidnapping and killing of Israeli soldiers. Untold is the number of Israelis who have lost their lives as a direct result of this man’s actions in the Hamas.
  • If Mossad agents did execute Mahbouh, it was not an act of murder but an act of warfare. Dubai, by allowing known terrorists and killers freely in and out of its borders, has no leg to stand on in protesting the movement in and out of its borders of other “undesirables” like intelligence agents.
  • And my own personal view: Israel should train and send its agents after every properly identified and accurately accused foe. It should take out killers of its people in Cairo and Damascus, Dubai and Baghdad, Tehran and Beirut, England and France, Canada and the United States – wherever they may be.
  • Let no murderer of Jews feel safe anywhere in this world.

In any case, as far as Lebanon and Syria, Iran and Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are concerned; Israel is set to do a lot more damage than merely remove individual foes here and there.

The Islamic-Arab world – specifically those states around Israel – is the woodpile. Judah’s governors – that is the Jewish leadership – are the firepan. The fate of the woodpile is to be devoured.

So says the prophet Zechariah, in the context of the very days in which we are living.

It’s going to happen. And when it does - the world is going to have an apoplectic fit.

The hypocrisy of the nations is sickening. I agree 100% Stan, let the killer of innocents be pursued to the ends of the earth. In Judges 3:12-28, Ehud was a God chosen deliverer, who was sent to kill King Eglon of Moab, because of his persecution of the children of Israel. Ehud used almost the same techniques of stealth, intelligence gathering and weaponry that is used today, right down to hanging a “do not disturb” sign on his door. Let the world condemn, it means nothing to God. We should all pray for men and women in the intelligence services that perform their “duties” in a manner that keep innocent people safe and free. I pray for those men and women worldwide that do this in the name of justice and liberty and truth that help perserve our Judeo-Christian roots and values. God bless the soldiers of the IDF. God bless Israel and the USA. Praying for the peace of Jerusalem

Stan, I believe you see this matter clearly. Thanks for your timely post. I would like to hear from you more often as reliable information about prophetic Israel is hard to come by.

The “Day of the Lord” is fast approaching.

    Blessings,

Stan, you are spot on!! As always Israel gets the blame. I, for one, do not believe the Mossad assassinated the Hamas murderer. Mossad does not require 11? 14? operatives to carry out an operation. However, if they are “guilty” they should receive and award and a standing ovation. Let the world have an apoplectic fit!! Kudos to you, my friend. I love Jerusalem and Israel too!

Glad you are back–we certainly missed you. “Firepan in the Woodpile” is so correct and getting close. One can feel it in the air. Israel will soon the the “Head” and not the “tail” concerning all nations of the world. Even so, come, Yeshua.

So good to hear from you again Stan, been checking your site on a regular basis, and what a timely little piece you wrote. You’re spot on, time is short and for Israel’s neighbours and arch enemies their fates have been sealed and are going to be used by our mighty Yahweh to display His awesome power and love for the nation of Israel.

Isaiah 17:1 also springs to mind. It has all been foretold, and Yahweh, unlike man, keeps His Word forever. Wake up nations of the world, Yeshua is coming soon. Halleluyah.

It’s very trying to see these double-standards, these accusations, these outrageous claims made against Israel. But the truth is in the word of the Lord - that Israel will remain, and stand. Great hope for those who side with Israel, not so much for those who don’t.

Yes indeeed soon the firepan (Isreal ) will set the woodpile ( her enemy neighbours ) on fire…. Gods torch ( Isreal ) will consume and set her enemies ablaze. The enemy terrorist plots will boomrang back to permiate and fill their own hearts. Every cell of their DNA will quiver with fear.
God has brought this people Jacob back into the land ( not to glorify Isreal ) but to magnify his name amoung the nations. So also will he then show himself to the nations when the house of Jacob becomes his war machine of judgement. God will so mangnify and make his name known that no one in all the nations will be able to stand before him and claim that they were not sure that he was real. No pleas of ignorance will cut it any longer. When the firepan explodes in the woodpile the sorrounding forest and pasture lands ( world nations ) will also start to head into danger and turmoil. Then no more will it be business as usual, and hard facts and choises will have to be made in the valley of decision. The last call will be blasted load and clear for all to hear…but will they finally bow their knee to God and his plan of salvation ( Jesus ) or will they willfully decide to continue along with the God of this world ( Satan ) on down their road to final destruction.
VERY SOON cometh THE VALLEY OF DECISION for all men.

Although I’m not 100 percent convinced there was any murder (as opposed to natural causes, etc.) - it seems awlfully convenient for Hamas et al to blame Mossad. It’s also a way to legitimately follow Mossad around, etc., with world support due to Iran’s fear it’s nuclear reactors will be destroyed.

Would that another country have the chutzpah Israel has regarding such nuclear facilities in the hands of madmen who threaten to kill other nations!

    Good stuff Stan!

I agree with Delta, about the “proof” of an assassination. But either way, here is one less enemy of Israel. I pray Israel will continue to defend herself and to destroy her enemies and I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I only have love and respect for Israel.

This whole business of passport theft is sounding awfully clumsy; is this really Mossad’s style? And why such a large team required? There seems to be a concerted effort by Israel’s neighbours (Iran and her proxies) to paint Israel as a nation spoiling for war, to demonise her further in the eyes of the world before anything else begins; is it too far ‘out there’ to wonder if Dubai is a set up?

One operation I’d give my eye teeth to see is for Mossad to go into Gaza and pull out Gilad Schalit. I don’t believe they don’t know where he is; it’s just all too political. Should have been done a long time ago.

Yes, yes please pull out Gilad Schalit. That poor boy and his family have suffered enough. If Mossad can get him out by any means then do so - and may God bless those who ’set the captives free’.
