That in mid-May, 2009, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed to the United States to make a priority of stopping Iran from pursuing the nuclear bomb that threatens Israel’s existence.
That the Obama administration refused.
And that just over one week later, America was standing on the edge of a potential nuclear conflict with North Korea, which test-fired an atomic warhead and launched a handful of surface-to-surface missiles in a defiant show of force.
Let me be clear: I do not claim that what I am about to write is “a word from the Lord.” Some of the thoughts I will express here have simply “dropped into my head” over the last 24 hours; they came without any leading from a third party and, while they resonate in my spirit, they have not been confirmed by two or three witnesses; or even one. Nor have I had any dreams or visions about this. See below.*
On May 18, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in the White House with the president of the United States, Barack Obama.
Both the run-up to and aftermath of that much anticipated meeting have been spun every which way by the media, with a solid majority of columnists and talk show hosts focusing in on “the relationship,” on “reading between the lines” and on analyzing the “body language” between the two.
Some harked back to the days when frigid winds blew in the Clinton White House after a Netanyahu visit during the Israeli’s first tenure in office. Would “Bibi” again forget his “place?” Watchers saw a nervous “regional power medium weight” sitting opposite a self-assured “global superpower heavyweight,” and they gave the American kudos for not allowing Netanyahu to “deflect” him from the “real obstacle to peace,” that is, Jewish settlements. To other observers,Netanyahu strongly withstood the not inconsiderable pressures an American administration can bring to bear. He stuck to his guns, refused to subscribe to the “two-state solution” and should have been welcomed home as a hero. (He wasn’t.)
There was more; much more analysis, from serious reporters and from the fringe, underscoring why the profession is often referred to as a media circus.
But let’s put aside the fluff of press predilections and spinmeister speculations, and get to the substance of what’s really taken place.
It’s a matter of gravest consequence.
Netanyahu didn’t go to the White House seeking a photo opportunity. He went to ask for American leadership and support in dealing with the out-of-control Iranian nuclear threat that is primarily directed against the Jewish state.
From the day of his inauguration on March 31, Netanyahu has been looking for Washington to take Iran seriously.
“If you don’t stop Iran, I’ll have to,” he messaged Obama, just hours before being sworn in.
Instead of responding appropriately, the American dissembled. Get going with the two-state solution, Obama shot back, and we’ll be better able to deal with Tehran.
This was Obama’s response too when the two leaders spoke to the press after their May 18 meeting.
Netanyahu said “the worst danger Israel faces is that Iran would develop nuclear military capabilities.”
“Iran openly calls for our destruction, which is unacceptable. It threatens the moderate Arab regimes in the Middle East. It threatens US interests worldwide. But if Iran were to acquire nuclear weapons, it could give a nuclear umbrella to terrorists or worse, could actually give them nuclear weapons. And that would put us all in great peril.”
Netanyahu’s position was that it was necessary to deal with Iran first, and with the “Palestinian” question later.
Obama publicly disputed him.
“If there is a linkage between Iran and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, I personally believe it actually runs the other way,” the American said. “To the extent that we can make peace with the Palestinians — between the Palestinians and the Israelis, then I actually think it strengthens our hand in the international community in dealing with the potential Iranian threat.”
The president went on to suggest that he might reassess his “let’s talk” approach to Iran if, by year’s end, there was no sign it was having an affect. Netanyahu expressed his appreciation, but administration officials “close to Obama” later quickly emphasized that no deadline had been set.
What, in fact, do we have here?
Israel’s leader has asked the US to help stop Iran from acquiring the means to inflict a holocaust on the Jews.
America’s leader is not willing to go that way. On the contrary, as The Jerusalem Post’s Caroline Glick wrote, the Obama “administration has made its peace with Iran’s nuclear aspirations. Senior administration officials acknowledge as much in off-record briefings. It is true, they say, that Iran may exploit its future talks with the US to run down the clock before they test a nuclear weapon. But, they add, if that happens, the US will simply have to live with a nuclear-armed mullocracy.”
Two days after Netanyahu met with Obama, Iran successfully test fired a ‘Sajil’ surface-to-surface missile with a 1,200 mile range. Israel is less than 1000 miles from Iran.
Two days later, on May 22, a public survey indicated that one in four Israelis is so fearful of the specter of a nuclear Iran that they plan to leave their homeland forever if the mullahs get their hands on the bomb.
On May 24 Iran’s former Revolutionary Guards chief Mohsen Rezai warned that his country “understands missiles and tanks as well as foreign policy and knows exactly where Israel’s sensitive spots are. It could stop them forever with one strike.”
On May 25, a grim-faced Bibi told his cabinet: If we don’t deal with Iran, no one will.
On May 27, a new poll found that 51 percent of Israelis want the IDF to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities now. This despite Bibi’s warning to expect a large number of Israeli casualties if a strike goes down. Iranians have boasted that they have the capability to destroy Israel within just 11 days.
Also on May 27, Iran deployed six warships and other vessels into international waters in what Fox News called a “saber-rattling” move.
For five days this coming week the world, and specifically the United States government, will watch the Israeli nation ready for full scale war in the largest ever national military exercise since 1948.
But Netanyahu’s appeal for America to step up to the plate has fallen on deaf ears.
Instead, the Obama administration finds the idea of “reaching out to the Muslim world” more appealing just now.
And it knows that one of the most effective ways it can do that is by pushing Israel into compliance with the ‘Arab Peace Initiative.’
Thus did Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasize Wednesday the American “expectation” that Israel would immediately comply with the Arab demand that it halt any and all settlement activity.
President Obama “wants to see a stop to settlements - not some settlements, not outposts, not ‘natural growth’ exceptions,” Clinton said. “We think it is in the best interests [of the peace process] that settlement expansion cease. That is our position. That is what we have communicated very clearly. … And we intend to press that point.”
Do they?
How interesting then, that exactly one week after spurning Israel’s appeal, the United States this week suddenly finds itself confronting a nuclear-detonating, missile launching North Korea?
Is it really just happenstance that Hillary Clinton Wednesday evening, at the same news conference, in almost the same breath, was leveling stern warnings at both Jerusalem and Pyongyang?
Or is Someone Else fighting for Israel?
History will tell.

* When, in 2004/5, the Sharon government was preparing to uproot the Jews of Gaza, destroy their homes and hand over that territory to the Palestinian Arabs, I widely - in my writing and in meetings across the United States - expressed my strong feelings that the Disengagement would not happen, that God would not let it take place. I based my position strongly on God’s word through the prophet Amos when He said: “…I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them,” says the LORD your God. (Amos 9:15). It was also clear to me that God had, in the 1967 Six Day War, miraculously restored Gaza (and Judea and Samaria and “East” Jerusalem) to Jewish sovereign rule after nearly 2000 years. Despite the mounting evidence before my eyes that the plan was going to be executed, I held to the conviction it would not take place. It did, of course. And not long afterwards I was challenged by an emotional fellow believer who told me: “You had better publicly confess that you were wrong when you said God told you that there would be no Disengagement.” In fact, to the very best of my recollection, I had never said that God told me anything of the sort. All along I had expressed MY thoughts; MY sense, MY conviction, even MY belief. But I never said that God had spoken.
Following that uprooting I watched, mesmerized, as Hurricane Katrina prepared to unleash its devastating fury on the south-eastern United States. Deep inside I just KNEW that this was the Divine response to years of America’s relentless pushing of Israel that had culminated in the Gaza disaster. Did God TELL me it was Him? Maybe He did - through what I read in the Bible and through the spiritual witness shared by so many others - among them Katrina’s victims - that this was indeed God’s judgment. Even so, what I did as the hurricane roared ashore in Louisiana was ask the question: Was Katrina the ‘fist of God?’ However certain I may be of the answer to that question, I never claimed to have heard from Heaven God saying “the storm is My response.” One day we will know.
Yes, indeed, Stan. One day - soon - we will know. And I think you and I will not be surprised at what God’s answer will be. And on that day all the peoples of the earth will finally acknowlege that there IS a God in Israel. And they will bow their knees before Him. At last!
Until then, my heart and my prayers are with Israel and with the one God has chosen to lead her into the days ahead. May the God of Israel hold Bibi’s heart in His hands and give him a courage and a strength that he could not imagine. I pray that he will take up the challenge God has set before him, without fear and with great determination, and that he will go forward as David did, not wishing to be covered in the armor of Obama, but rather to go forward in the courage and strength of the Lord God of Israel. For if he does, he will indeed, see Goliath fall at his hand. May it be so.

Good post Stan, as usual. Yes Almighty G-d be with Mr. Netanyahu and the Israeli nation at this time as their “allies” betray them in favour of world opinion. Encourage them to remain steadfast and to realise that their only trust should be in You, and You will indeed see them through the trouble that lies ahead. I am truly at a loss to really express myself with these current events happening in Israel, the US and the rest of the world. I lean to your thinking Stan because that’s the line of reasoning that makes any sense at all. In my mind and heart, these are the real “Last Days”. God will intervene with a show of His power for His chosen people and to His glory. We’ve talked about this some on your last visit to South Carolina Stan. I’ve been praying for Mr. Netanyahu to remain steadfast, as we all know that a 2 state solution won’t work. And, besides, GOD gave that land, plus much more, to the Hebrew people for eternity. Just two days ago, I was speaking to a friend about how our country’s govt is trying to pull Israel apart with the two-state solution - and that is like kicking against G-d. Then, coming out of my spirit were the words “to our own peril”. This article shows just how past actions have resulted in such. It also shows how present actions show a more grave danger to all the nations of the earth, not just Israel.
We, indeed, are acting like rebellious sheep.
May our Shepherd get through to us before heavy discipline does - either through earthquake, hurricane, or other natural disasters OR - (G-d forbid!) a nuclear strike from Iran or North Korea,or any other country.
Stan as I read your artical the tears began to flow. My mother was a christian and raised all ten of us to love Isrial and Gods chosen people the Jews. I did not come to The Lord until I was 28 but I had a fierce love for the Jewish people. I am praying for wisdom for Bibi and great protection for Isrial. The Us is on a path to disaster I am afraid. We must all fast and pray as never before and just believe the word of God. My bigest prayer is that your leaders will not buckle to this demonic group that is trying to use force to kill your country. At the same time Obama is trying to destroy Israel, he is destroying the United States.

The removal of communications is the primary objective in a military offensive. The detonation of a nuclear weapon at high altitude releases an Electromagnetic Pulse. This is known as EMP. Hello Stan…………this article, in many ways, is a comfort to me. I already know that America is a nation under judgement……to what extint, I do not know. I DO STRONGLY trust in the promises of our Lord. There are so many of us praying fervently….not only for Israel but for our own nation. We are a divided nation, for sure. There are many of us who love and support Israel against their enemies; even to the point of our very own government, shamefully, to say. What can we do to help? As for my self, my heart, my eyes and my ears are pealed to the east and to the heavens. I am most anticipatory of God’s wrath upon this nation…..as IF what we are experiencing on a daily basis, the internal emploding of the US of America…morally, spiritually, financially, militarily……..everything that contibutes to our greatness and the foundation upon which this country was founded we find crumbling, is not enough.

Man I miss reading your thoughts Stan. It’s been too long. As I have often expressed to you I say agin, I love your heart man. Keep doing what you do. It matters to us over here in the U.S., to those who are near you, and most of all it matters to Jesus. There can be no doubt that my country, the United States, is one step away from a mighty rebuke from the Lord God Almighty. I read in Proverbs 6 how God hates innocent blood being shed. How many millions have we killed in this country through legal abortion? And we act as if God does not see. This morning as I was praying for Obama and the church and this country I could not help but ask the Father for a rebuke. HIs rebuke, His judgement is His love to us. If He does not rebuke us we will go to point of no return. We will destroy ourself with our pride, leagalized murder, homosexual agenda, and our determanation to give away the land the God gave back to His people. I find comfort only in 2 things. Number 1 - Our Father’s Sovereignty. Number 2 - That at the very core of our Father in Heaven is a heart of love, mercy, and compassion. The fullness of that love so perfectly displayed through the Son dying on a cross. That is why I trust His judgement, because I know it is rooted in love. Just as the Father said to Moses, “I will let my goodness pass before you.” We need His goodness to discipline us so that we might turn and live! Love you Stan. Keep sharing your heart. Again, you are the master reporter of the truth and the apple of God’s eye. I knew the confrontation has been brewing over the past few months and I also knew about Obama’s dark secrets. It’s just too many questions about his character, thoughts and beliefs and the “change,” for the worst. He is plunging our beloved nation into darkness, ruin and eventually destruction. His foreign policy is horrendous and for the wrong reasons. He couldn’t even set his priorities straight regarding the Iranian threat and “two-state solution.” Like Katrina after the Gaza Disengagement, the NKorea threat looms right after the “two-state” threat. And it may be too late. I just pray that God would grab Obama and Clinton and shake some sense into them. These are dark days for Israel, but I am reminded of Psalm 2:
Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: “Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
God is still in control and judgment is about to come, unless we repent…
“Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.”
Isn’t it Ironic that while we are trying to force Israel to divide their land with there enemies. We have over 25 states declaring state sovereignty, a few talking openly about the possibility of succession. Half the states beginning to organize to stop the unconstitutional power grab by the Federal Government with nightly coverage by news commentators. Every day more is heard on talk radio about the end of the US as we have known it. Gradually I see Tens of millions seeing what I have seen coming for decades. The natural consequences of ignoring God and His word. There can be no peace with out building it on the principles that bring it.
There can be no peace with each other until we first make peace with God!
Jesus said we will be judged with the same standard we judge others with.
It seems this principles applies here as well While we are trying to Divide Israel our own country is about to be divided as well. Every week I see us slipping a little closer to the cliff. It’s like on 9-11 It’s like the financial melt down was the first plane and one of the two towers has been on fire for a while now. Soon the next plane will hit. Terrorist attach, next wave of financial melt down, natural disaster it really doesn’t matter what it is. It will set the other tower on fire! There is so much mistrust and bad blood between half the population and those in the Federal government who have no respect for the constitution. Any further restriction on freedoms for any reason will cause the first tower to collapse floor by floor gaining speed as it goes. Those in power now will most certainly react in a show of force greater than they would the terrorists they apologize to now . This will cause the second tower to collapse floor by floor leaving the US in shambles with only our nuclear capability to deter our enemies from attacking us while we’re crippled. At least until the anti Christ is ready to finish us off before marching to Jerusalem!
Israel made the mistake of trusting the Egyptians to help protect them from those who God used to judge them in the past. The US is no more reliable and the sooner Israel understands that and falls upon the mercy of God and does what it must the better off we will all be!

i am not sure whether Hurricane Katrina was the fist of God punishing America for her stand against Israel. BUT I do know this:
“…for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8).
I think God wants us to support Israel and if that proves too difficult, then don’t do anything to harm her, unless you want to find out what Zech 2:8 means!
Regarding Hurricane Katrina: Did you know the first place that had mandatory evacuation was WEST BANK, LOUISIANA? I saw this on Fox News as they were announcing the evacuation live. That isn’t a coincidence as the world was also watching the removal of the Jews from atop their homes (memories of Katrina as people were rescued from atop their homes) in the WEST BANK, Israel.

On May 25th when I woke it was with the words “America is about to declare war” in my mind. I immediately started to seek the Lord as to what this meant. There were two things that I believe God said to me at the time the first was that HE would restore the desolated heritages of His people Israel, the second was to be prepared to stand up for His people.
It was that very morning I read in the news of North Koreas Nuclear testing that now threatens the US.
No I don’t think it is either a coincidence, or unrelated to the US treatment of Netanyahu and the people of Israel.

I agree with you one hundred percent…..I have said many times before, and I will say it again: “The Handwriting is on the wall…..”
I firmly believe that Katrina was God’s response to US pressure re the disengagement from Gaza. The subsequent demise of Ariel Sharon was also of serious significance. Sharon’s Kadima Party under Olmert and Livni went on to compromise Israel’s security whilst contravening the Divine Covenant re ownership of The Land . Kadima ultimately met with its own demise .
The Gaza disengagement was a shock to all who hung onto the scripture Stan quoted above - that Israel would never again be uprooted- BUT maybe the uprooting was God’s way of convincing Israel that no land for peace deal would ever work ! The current pressures on Israel from the Quartet et al are humanly almost impossible to oppose … yet while many in Israel were willing to compromise at the time of the Gaza uprooting … Today most Israelis support Netanayhu and his team whose current policies are right in line with God’s Covenants!

How sad Israel must work so hard to survive
Ever since I read Bill Koenig’s book, Eye to Eye, I have watched God deal with the nations exactly the way they treat His People and His Land. My deep concern for our nation is that if we (United States) continue to pressure Israel to stop the “settlements” and if their homes are taken or dismantled what section of this nation will suffer the same fate? Katrina is one of a long list of consequences for touching the Apple of God’s Eye.
What can we expect from a ‘closet muslin’? What obama does always favors his islamic brethren. Anyone who believes the spinwriters when they proclain obama as a ‘Chritian’ are whistling in the cemetery. obama is a deer in the headlights and is going to be severely dealt with. Could North Korea be the hammer in the hand of G-d that will bring obama to his knees? Pray G-d acts soon. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Your analysis is on target. God puts our leaders in power, God has chosen Obama to lead us. We disagree with him. We recognize he does not share our beliefs. To claim association to any Christian family and fail to recognize the plan of God is shameful. We need to pray for Israel, her leaders as well as America and her misguided leaders. I fear our PERIL if we fail to do this. God is love and he wants us to repent. We as American needs to be on ur knee’s acknowledging to God we are fallen and lost without him. The secular humanist and non-believer rarely cares about what the believer does. He usually considers anything with spiritual overtones as a matter of foolishness and a refuge for the soft headed, and someone to be coddled and then gently ignored. The Muslim, Jewish and Christian fundamentalists are outside his frame of reference. Most of the people I knew 30 years ago at least understood basic biblical terminologies and had a grasp of the stories even if they did not believe. These educated non-believers did not teach their children these things and their grandchildren for the most part do not know or even care to understand. I believe America is very different now than it was then. The world is changing and many Americans do not even notice and only seem to care because it is now beginning to affect their pocketbook. 10 million Muslim pilgrims went to Karbala recently and not to Mecca. These millions are militant and are looking for and praying for the 12th and hidden Imam and for the end of this world. The hatred of the Jews and a Jewish Jerusalem are centerpiece issues to the Shiia and cannot be ignored. The Jews pray for Messiah, he will fight for them and defeat their enemies and the world rule of the Messiah is without end. The Return to the Land movements, and Temple restoration movements grow everywhere in Israel, despite the secular government and external pressures which now includes the American President to control them. The Christians awaiting the rapture and the Great Tribulation are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Jesus wept over Jerusalem. The reality on the ground is changing. It is all about Jerusalem and Israel will never give it up. When the American President puts the United States in the middle of this by declaring that Israel must accept a 2 state solution he moves us away from Israel and intentional or otherwise moves in the direction of Muslim world interests. Why is it that only the American press does not seem to see this? The actions of the United States has also brought about very different reactions from North Korea and Iran than they had hoped for or intended. The world is waiting to see what President Obama will say in Cairo in a few days. I do not see anything good coming out of it despite what I believe to be the sincere efforts of this administration. I believe the American media does not have a clue. While the world drifts towards a potential nuclear showdown with North Korea and Iran, with the issue of Jerusalem right there in the mix; I watched days of media coverage, directed instead at redefining the legal concept of marriage in favor of same sex relationships. Muslims, Jews and Christians have a problem with this but the American press does not care. I also watched the celebration of the latest Link in so called evolution. I think it is funny that the news releases about this fossil were followed in days by programs which had obviously been in the works for months. Not very subtle. By the way, the Link video people state that since the fossil does not have a toe claw it must be from the primate branch and therefore a human ancestor. Hey, my dog has a toe claw and therefore must be descended from a Lemur if the video is right. No paleontologist I know of says the dog descended from a lemur. I think it is silliness. I am a spiritual person and a believer in the bible. I believe that God will judge nations depending on how they deal with Israel. If the United States is moving away from protecting and blessing Israel it may be that G-d will stop blessing and protecting the United States. We who believe in G-d know that G-d will do what he wants for his own reasons and purposes. In that we must stand and Trust. The issue is in his hands alone.
Nice analysis Stan, I believe you on the right track here but you leave out one big question. Is Isreal and the US still God fearing nations? Do these nations respect the God of the bible. I hope so but I tend to believe thay are both falling into apostasy in a big way. If prayer and repentance is mssing in both nations than I fear these nations will learn the hard way. Stan, you needn’t be apologetic in your take of the situation. The Creator speaks to man in different ways: you heard Him through your decent heart and clear-thinking mind, just as you did at the beginning of the Oslo catastrophe. At that time I was “a regular” on the pages of the Jerusalem Post and certain Jewish-American weeklies. Yet none of my regular venues would publish my claim that Oslo was not what was almost universally billed as a “Peace Process,” but was in fact, “A War Process.” Only the Middle East Intelligence Digest published my warnngs in a piece entitled, “The Needless Battle.” That journal’s editor , with the vision to see this warning that flew in the face of general public perception, was a man by the name of Stan Goodenough.
We serve a covenant God. Israel is covenant land. Words cannot express how heart-broken I am to see Obama push for the division of Jerusalem(”I am going to give this land to you and your offspring as a permanent possession” - Genesis 13:14 NLT). Although I know the hour in which we are living, I remain horrified at what I am seeing. Obama is a very arrogant man. Living in a country with a so-called “leader” who will turn his back on our friends and God’s chosen, I will remain loyal in my support of the Jewish people and Israel. If I need to pay with my life for this decision somewhere down the road, God give me the strength to do so with courage. God bless Israel!
Our Lord Jesus is coming quickly, we need to pray that Those who are not saved do so now, the time is nigh. Obama is an evil man I feel he is the antichrist.

Concerning Katrina, days before it hit I knew in my spirit this was a judgement of God. The other storms before and after I had no such conviction.
God drowned the sinful City and let them stay in their filt.
I am with you and believe God himself will deliver Israel from Iran.
Maybe the North Koreans will nuke Iran, that would be quite a schocker to many.
