Is America a sinking ship? Am I witnessing, even as I sit at the gate at the Atlanta International Airport waiting for my flight back home, the beginning of the end for this nation?
Is this a crazy question; an over reaction? Am I sensationalizing this?
You be the judge. But let me tell you about the last 24 hours of my 18-day speaking trip through the south-eastern United States.
Late yesterday afternoon (September 28, 2008) I arrived in Roswell, Atlanta, GA, ending a four hour drive down from just north of Nashville, Tennessee.
The gas (petrol) tank in my rented car was empty, needle flat-lined, but I thought to take a chance and get to the end of the journey before filling up so I would not have to do so again.
Pulling into a gas station, I almost ran into orange traffic cones that had been placed in front of the pumps. No other cars were there. I glanced at the sign which normally states the price-per-gallon of the different fuel grades. They were blank.
The tanks were empty. So to at the next one, and the next, and the next. All the way to my host’s home I passed silent, ghostly gas stations. It left me with no choice but to return my car empty to the nearest Avis office, and pay the exorbitant fee for them to fill the tank - when they can.
This morning my host needed to fill his car to bring me to the airport. We drove again past numerous empty stations. It has been this way for a week, he told me. Then we saw a long line of cars waiting at one place that did have gas. But after dropping me off at a nearby store my friend quickly returned to find the line suddenly gone as that station, too, had exhausted its supplies.
He had to search for another one and wait in line for more than an hour until he finally reached the pump.
Returning home to pack my bags, we were just enjoying a last cup of coffee together when the news flashed around the world: The $700 billion economy “rescue package” being debated on Capitol Hill had failed to pass.
Financially speaking, all hell broke loose.
Within minutes the Dow Jones Index on the Stock Exchange had crashed through the floor, making its biggest single day drop in history.
Listening to the announcer’s voice and the voices of those being interviewed, I could hear panic hovering, even at the door.
Our ride to the airport was quick. It should have been early rush hour, but the traffic flowed easily as relatively few vehicles were on the road. In this energy-guzzling land where public transportation is almost non-existent and every family member has a car, no gas means no movement.
How are they going to survive?
Now here I sit in the airport, surrounded by stunned fellow travelers – the man next to me talking animatedly on his cell phone, brow furrowed, hand taping nervously on his knee. I overhear him asking the other party: “Are you watching this? Do you know what’s happened?â€
From the CNN screen an increasingly upset commentator says things like: “We are dropping right into the abyss.†“We are headed for another great depression.†“Americans need to realize that life will change; that life has changed.â€
When I took leave of my friend a few minutes ago I said: “I feel like I’m leaving a sinking ship.†He laughed, a little nervously too I thought. “I think I’ll go with you.â€
My throat is dry, eyes behind my sunglasses pricking with tears as I imagine what the people of this great land could be headed for. The cloud that seems to be boiling up on the horizon is a fearful one.
It need not have come. It should not have come. But it’s here.
And still, in the midst of reporting on this economic earthquake, CNN cannot refrain from continuing with its endless attacks on Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin – listing all the “gaffes†it said she has made since being selected by John McCain. That twisted “news network†appeared to see such slander as offering light relief.
As I depart I want to say “God bless America.â€
But what comes is: “God have mercy on America. Won’t You still extend some measure of Your grace towards these United States?
Dear God, get through to the leadership. Open the way for someone, whoever You can use, to reach the ear of the president and rivet him with the truth: that the answer to everything that is unraveling around him is staring hiin the face; that if he persists in pushing Israel into relinquishing its homeland, endangering the very existence of Your people, he will have steered this ship – the USA – directly into the hurricane path of Your curse.
Open the door. Let SOMEBODY get to Mr. Bush! I am willing go. If someone “out there†can get me to him, I will turn around as soon as I get home and come right back. If You will only open the door and give me the words to say.
Will You still be merciful to this land? Will You remember all those here who DO love You and who have wept – even in my presence over these past days – at the terrible way their leaders are endangering Israel by forcing, pushing, pressing the Jews to divide up and give away their land, YOUR land?

Stan - Congress, beginning with then PresCarter (the manipulator who was manipulated by Arafat) began laying the infrastructure siege for unsound compassionate social lending practices to people who lacked the wherewithal to afford such housing. Clinton advanced such policies and sandwiching him, GW 1/2 between them allowed the fiasco to continue.
Meanwhile, the fat catz are rippin big leaves from the big GREEN trees of investment and insurance companies,banks and holding companies while gasoline and corn-based foods and products globally soars in pricing.
This is not a bailout, Stan - this is market manipulation by a group of people and individuals who seek global opportunities politically and financially; with the prwoess to then further manipulate their willing and unwilling subjects.
But, now we move to the Whirlwind…
Buying, or giving too much of my time to Lies is not one of my strong suits, and I have far too little patience with such folx - although The Scripure Declares Let GOD Be True and every man a liar….glad HE’s Patient with me….heheh
The Scripture Declares that we reap what we sow PLUS. This is our own doing, and most marvelous in our eyes-
all the while too many members of Congress And, perhaps, supposed theologians, MSM, Marxist community organizers, Socialist and Islamic educators and politicians - who are as corrupt as the day is long - continue to perpetrate and propagate their lies and deceit to their own Destruction.
Mercy ?
May GOD Have Mercy on those who call on HIM, and FULLY JUDGE the rest. Their dessert is about to be served - for ‘ALL HIS Ways ARE Judgment.

Thanks for your prayer and concern for us Americans. I live in the area you described just North of Atlanta. In my city we have 6 gas stations. Lately all but 1 have been out of gas. The one with gas rotates around all 6 choices making for musical gas station on a daily basis. Fortunately I work 9 miles from home so maybe by next week when I am driving on fumes I will find some.
I believe out present situation has been forced onto us be this Presidential administration. Bush’s roadmap for peace has led to nothing but crisis here. From the Gaza withdrawal to the latest assurances given to the PA that the US would gaurantee any last minute agreement Olmert gave, we have gone down like a lead balloon. I think Sept 12 the US sent the PA this letter of assurance and quickly we had 2 hurrricanes slam into the Gulf Coast states. Followed by all the recent financial melt down. As in the days before Sept 11 the so called intelligent people cannot connect the dots.

We too have been out of gas for over a week near our home just 45 minutes north of Atlanta. There is a gas station near here that has been out every since Ike came through the gulf.
We too pray for America, and we agree with you for God to open the door for someone to get into speak to President Bush.
We have serious concerns about the economy here as well, we own a small business where we install fencing. It is a very serious time for our country to realize the serious consequences of pressuring Israel to give up her land.
We pray for mercy and divine intervention for our country.
And we thank you so much for all you have taught us, you truly are a blessing to so many.

I pray you had a good time, safe trip & that all went well with the people you met and was able to speak with. You see Stan the Father even try’s to get the people’s attention. But they are not listening our government and the people have to much of their own stuff they don’t need a God they are their own god. But the mighty God Of Israel know just what it will take to get them to sit up and take notice… But are they watching & or do they care not till they see there whole life’s savings go down the drain home’s gone and still they don’t cry out to God.. And behind the scene’s in Israel America is still trying to get Israel to split Jerusalem in half good verses evil to give half of Jerusalem to satan or allal & half to the mighty God of Israel. So, you’re like every other Israeli import. You want a strong stable America that continues to feed Israel money and weapons without question. What about the hundreds of millions of Americans who really don’t care about Israel, and don’t have to? What about the ones who genuinely dislike/hate Israel? They have rights, and they vote. Israel is 7 million people out of 7 billion on the planet. The U.S. and the rest of the world shouldn’t worry about what .1% of the world is thinking, especially when it gets literally nothing in return.
Prophets warned USA again and again. No terrorist attack, no natural disaster, but internal indebtedness did it, growing gradually for decades. God probably withdrew His protective hand. I only pray for Israel economics, tied with USA economic, to be spared from this disaster. And God please be merciful to your faithful people everywhere.
It’s NOT the economy, Stpud! It has been proclaimed in many political campaigns that the economy is what drives the U.S. power and respect among nations. It has been……but that has been by G-d’s grace and mercy. Too, too many; on both sides of the political aisle rely on OUR power and forget it’s HIS power that keeps us afloat. I agree. I am concerned somewhat about what will happen if our economy sinks lower because people are not prepared, nor have they saved, for this event. I am worried how the poor will get poorer, the homeless will be home-lost, the children will suffer, and on and on……. I know where my hope lies. Most people do not. It’s not in foreign oil. It’s not in money in the bank. It’s not in the biggest house or money in the stocks. It’s in Yeshua, the Son of G-d. Our country has turned so far away from what the Bible says, it is no wonder He is letting us go down a slow path to destruction. I believe this is a SIGN of things to come, prophecy coming to pass. And like you, who ever does not bless Israel will be cursed. I also believe that all men will need to say “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the L-rd” before things will ever, ever be made right again.
I to would go, if Pr.Bush would only listen, but he has been told and still he has a blind eye and his ears are closed. i to pray that ELOHIM will sent someone that he will listen to.. you are so right that judgement is coming to the U.S. and has been already and people are so blind to see .
Stan, I too am saddened and grieved for the abuse the United States of America has placed on your wonderful country. I am among many, many thousands of Americans who do not approve of the attitude shown toward Israel as regards the Palestinians. We are not all in agreement as to what the State Department of the USA is doing and in fact, we would all like to bring them before a higher court for judgment of long past theories and actions against the Jewish people.
I know for a certainty that President Bush is very wrong in promoting this Land for Peace policy and going against the admonition of God’s word is a very dangerous thing to do. I would like to forward your message (this one) to the President’s office but I need your permission to do so. In addition to that, I am praying and agreeing with you that God open the door to your addressing the President personally on behalf of Israel and also, the United States of America. I am asking several of my prayer partners to take on this burden also, and I am expecting to hear from you regarding the matter being accomplished.
You are a watchman on the wall and you have sounded an alarm that has been being shouted for a few years now. It is past time to heed the alarm but when all else fails and people refuse to carry that message any further, then desperate measures have to be implemented.

again with interest did I read your post.If you ever come through the Houston please send an email. I am with you regarding the economic and financial troubles that are upon us. It is because we are losing sight of our Lord Jesus and His teachings. The troubles we are experiencing may be due to Genesis 12:3. Genesis 15:18 and Joshua 1:4 spells out what lands the Jewish people have a right to; and any person proclaiming to be a Believer in Christ should be aware and fully support Genesis 15:18 and Joshua 1:4, and not try to “divide and sell it as an assurance for peace”. It will not work, ever.
Alas, dear Stan, that you should see the beginning of an ending, that without the covering grace of our LORD Almighty God, America is found naked and ashamed for not returning to her Eternal Sovereign while there was sufficient time. In your opening comment, (can anyone get to the president?), indeed some have, just not the ones he needed.
Some time back there were the exchanges on this post of how America should be treating Israel, and we found that even in spite of the façade of America’s friendship to the land of the LORD’s chosen, replacement theology mentalities in the sub-current of mainstream denominations and their political influences found their mark in making Israel a bartering chip for the peace the world so desperately desires, but has no clue to achieve.
Continuing in the process to diminish Israel in the face of the Hizbollah threat from the north in Lebanon and the Hamas in Gaza, we find that politically America has taken the poison that will eventually declare its alliance with Israel as a political liability.
The end of the Bush administration, signaled as being imminent to the rest of the world by the economic upheaval caused by a greed-weakened U.S. Legislature, we see this Jewish New Year opening one last chance for America to suffer this last wake –up call to get it right before the LORD. But, again alas dear Stan, we see in the signs of the time as Yeshua HaMashiach mentioned in Matthew and elsewhere in the prophets, such is not likely to be; and the world chafes for its next opportunity to leap against Israel and into judgment.
Does America take a stand for Israel, even as the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles raises her flag for the first time since 1973; or falter and become lost to Biblical anonymity, like Babylon in Jeremiah 50-51, while the world races to their Revelation judgment in a vain attempt to overthrow the power of the Holy One of Israel before He returns to Jerusalem?
Look around; it is not hard to see that the LORD has already begun to finish on earth what was already established in Heaven.

AMEN, Hanna. As I watch this meltdown unfold, I can only think that the LORD is near. I am not afraid, this is prophecy unfolding before our eyes. Wicked, greedy, ungodly people are about to experience the terror of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Idols that consist of big houses, fancy gas guzzeling vehicles, and licentiousness will not save them. What is needed is repentenance by all people, no matter what country they happen to live in. Jesus is the only answer. Not president Bush. What is this life on earth anyway but a pilgrimage and a precurser to the Heavenly Kingdom yet to come to earth. Jesus is the only one that can clean up this mess. My lamp is lit, and I have all the oil I need as I watch and wait for the King to come for His own.

The economic problems did begin with Pres. Clinton, But please check out what Pres. Carter did with executive martial law orders.

Stan, I am glad you made it home safely. I get a peace just knowing you are back with Fran and family. I wish you could get through the red tape to see our President. But as to his hearing…..others have tried and failed….maybe the time just was not right. I pray it will be right quickly.

I am continuing to pray with fasting. I feel somewhat helpless…and yet, I know God honors prayer with fasting…..it is what I can do. I trust our Lord. He has said He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Not only do we not have gas, but food costs have tripled….I am sure we are not the only family who is struggling to keep our heads above water.
My 88 yr. old mother said to me tonight: “But how many people do you think are REALLY praying….” I said: “I don’t even have a clue……I don’t think things have gotten bad enough yet….” I pray God’s special mercies on the elderly, the children, the infirm, the homeless, the widows and the fatherless…..and on the innocent animals who have to suffer right along with humankind.
When Bush began turning against Israel, it was like a house of cards falling….one after another…..they are still falling…..

We can see the beginnings of His judgement for the folly of not trusting Him. Many Evangelical Christian leaders have met privatey with Mr. Bush and have stated to him that The L RD G D will punish the nations for dividing His Land. If you think we have problems now wait and see what will be if we are foolish enough to elect the first Arab American as President. We are promised “Change” but the changes are not explained. You who have read history knows that a certain European leader was elected by an intelligent people on a message of change. We all know that WW11 was the result. Fear driven guzzling and hording have drained the tanks, but it seems to be easing up a little bit. This is just a reminder what frenzied fear can do. ~~As for the economics I believe that it is a well orchestrated ‘faux failure’ that has been brimming for since Jimmy Carter laid the ground work, Clinton clinched it and Obama & his comrades who voted against Bush’s effort to stay it and hence forced the banks to give unqualified loans to unqualified buyers, hence causing an ineveitable collapse, surprisingly (?) just before the elections to panic the people into voting for ‘change’ and thereby help usher in a ‘community organizer’ type marxist /muslim led government. We’re standing on the brink of disaster like we’ve never witnessed before simply because the “powers that be” have chosen to turn a deaf ear to the instruction and admonition of God through His Word and through those who have brought Godly wisdom to them. Scripture is quite specific in mentioning the nations involved in the “last days” happenings. There is no mention of America, not even indirectly. The greatest, wealthiest, and most powerful nation in human history is not even indirectly mentioned?
Because it won’t be here.
Dear Stan, I think one of the things that upsets me is that people do not care to learn from history. This mess goes back much farther than Carter. And many of the people who know prophecy and love Israel have talked to Bush many times. Sometimes many will not listen to the warnings from scripture which is more up to date than media. One, G-d states that men do not learn from history..and that the god of this world rules all nations and gov’s. Yet they still fall all over themselves at this one and that one. Even when they see what this president is doing and has done, they just are in disbelief of what they see. Being in love with a Party, calling Rep good and Dem’s bad instead of believing G-d and His warnings. This so called bailout was in the works yrs ago. To put panic in the people and notice how China and others are calling on the “One world currency etc. The N American union is a plan that will happen where Mexico, US and Canada will be the N American Union, which will be one of the TEN who will lead the world under the EU. To know we are a Republic where we vote and the gov serves us where democracy is where we vote and the Pres does as he likes aginst our votes..that is dictatorship. We are to pray for them but to HOLD them accountable, and we don’t. I have no doubt that the one world gov is going to be because scripture tells us. New age is here, antichrist is in the wings and they all think they can win over G-d. But they won’t. And yes, I have all true proof that Obama is a Muslim, not born in Hawaii and has no business even runing and has his hands all over fannie mae and mac..but so does McCain and most in gov and state. so they want this to save their stocks and pensions. There are better ways to get over this but they want the power shift to move to the EU..I am not afraid but just angry that people let media set their minds. Thanks for still loving us! It must be challenging. We call the White House comment line repeatedly, begging the President to stop dissecting Israel. (We also pray fervently, and so do many others. The power of this delusion is very strong, and we still do not have a breakthrough.

I too agree with many of the people who have written to you. But my main concern is the ignorance of the churches. Too many church leaders, (shepherds) have not kept their sheep informed of the prowling wolf. Too many believe in the Replacement Theory. I know, I belonged to one of those churches. My pastor came to my house for bible study one evening, and when I produced scriptures that proved G-d has not replaced Israel with the church, he left that evening, never to return. That is very sad, as here is proof of the shepherd leading his flock astray. I finally left that church for a church that believes in the true Word, and that G-d does not change or break His promises. My wife’s mother’s church does not even know what Replacement Theory is, and she says that her church does not really care what goes on in Israel. It is not her concern, nor the churches. I am afraid that is the way too many churches in America feel. When I tried to point out to her that once we force Israel into giving up land that G-d gave to His people, and to divide Jerusalem, G-d will have only one course of action, to bring His wrath down upon America. The thing that saddens me, is how blind we are to all of His warnings. That is proof of His unfailing love for ALL people. How slow He is to anger………but once that anger is stirred, may He have mercy on us all.
Please keep praying for our country and its people and I too wish I had been on that plane with you going back to our blessed Israel. Our ship is sinking, and like the unsinkable Titanic, it’s going down fast by the head.

Interesting that this economic tsunami has crashed right on Rosh HaShana, the Feast of Trumpets. Dear Stan, Thank you for your endearing prayers toward the U.S.A. Obviously you are an educated person and know that the “writing is on the wall” for North America. The lessons of 911 have long been forgotten by the majority of our people. As a Sunday School teacher in a non-denominational church I have the freedom too study the WORD without denominational guide lines. GOD’s word is clear. Look at Joel 3:2. Parting of the land of Israel is national suicide for all who partake in such an act. Unfortunately, the U.S.A. is leading the charge. Our nation will get what comes from this betrayal. Is it even proper to ask our Heavenly Father to “have mercy on us” when all these actions are exactly contrary to HIS known will? Bush is not going to rescue anyone! Neither is the Republican party, nor the US government itself. The president couldn’t stop it if he wanted. It’s not like he’s God something. It’s the people also. We don’t need to pray for Yahweh to open their eyes. They can see just fine, they just don’t want to. The US is a nation that worships democracy much more than it does the Creator. Judgment is upon us, and rightly so. It has been coming for a long time. It’s just easier to see now. There may be people in the US that love Israel, but most people would put the US first, before Israel, or even before Yahweh. Don’t think that either McCain or Obama will stop the unholy “piece” process; they won’t, no matter what they say. Stop trusting in man! Stop looking to man for the answers, he doesn’t have them!
