Dear Secretary Rice
As I write this, you are making your way back home after spending two days throwing your weight around in Israel, my adopted homeland.
Yes, I know it’s your job as Secretary of State; you have a president to please. You speak for the world’s number one superpower. And of course you have your reputation to think of and your destiny to fulfill.
I know, too, that you will never read this, and it is doubtful that anyone near you will either. Unlike you, I do not have any earthly power; people will obviously not hang onto my every word, circulating and commenting on what I say.
But that’s okay. I’m going to write you anyway. Because just as you are obligated (unless you want to lose your post) to represent and communicate the position of your boss, I am obligated to represent and communicate the position of mine. I can choose to ignore what you say, and you can choose to ignore what I say. The choice to speak out, and to take heed, is always ours.
All Christians who believe the Bible and strive to live by it are responsible for conveying its truths. We have a calling, a duty, a responsibility; and a day is coming when we will have to give an account.
I therefore feel bound to tell you, Madam Secretary, that ever since you set your sights on implementing the two-state vision that aims to create an Arab state on biblically and historically Jewish land, you have been playing with fire; potentially with eternal fire, and not just with your own life, but with the life and future of your nation.
You need to know this.
I know you go to church and I assume you read the Book of books. If so, you may remember the account in the 21st chapter of 1 Chronicles, where David, a God-appointed king, saw tens of thousands of his own subjects die as a direct result of his deliberate decision to ignore the Lord’s injunction not to take a census in Israel.
As Israelites were dropping like flies around him, David cried out to God saying: “Was it not I who commanded the people to be numbered? I am the one who has sinned and done evil indeed; but these sheep, what have they done?”
A man after God’s own heart, he had the moral courage to add: “Let Your hand, I pray, O LORD my God, be against me and my father’s house, but not against Your people that they should be plagued.”
Ms. Rice, like David, you and your president have been raised to your positions by that same God. It is He who “removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21).
At the same time there was a national responsibility and a national consequence. The Israelites asked for a king and got David. Americans voted for a president and they got Mr Bush, who appointed you. Just as the Israelites were subject to David’s authority, Americans are subject to the authority represented by the White House and its administration.
What I want to convey in the strongest possible terms is this: Just as the Israelites bore the consequences of the actions of their leaders, your American people are bearing the consequences of your actions, particularly your actions in the Middle East, into which the Bush administration was drawn against its will, but which it has now made its top priority as its time in office runs out.
“I hope that President Abbas and Prime Minister Olmert can sign an agreement before the end of my presidency [in January] that defines a clearly-outlined Palestinian state,” the German daily Die Welt quoted Bush as saying yesterday.
And, speaking on the same day here in Jerusalem, you let Israel know that you “intend to be much more systematic about what is being promised and what is being done” by Israel to facilitate this. You are “expecting it to happen very very soon.”
Then, in Amman, Jordan this morning, standing next to veteran terrorist leader Mahmoud Abbas - who used violence against civilians to generate support like yours for his “cause” - you denounced Israel for settling Jews in Samaria and Judea.
“We continue to state America’s position that settlement activity should stop, that its expansion should stop – that is indeed not consistent with Road Map obligations,” you said.
That’s a good solid biblical word, “settlements.” If I may, I’d like to draw your attention to two more Bible verses:
In Isaiah 14:1 it says: “For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will still choose Israel, and SETTLE them in their own land” [emphasis mine].
And through Ezekiel in chapter 34, God says: “And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on THE MOUNTAINS OF ISRAEL, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on THE HIGH MOUNTAINS OF ISRAEL. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on THE MOUNTAINS OF ISRAEL” [emphasis again mine].
Do you see the phrase “the mountains of Israel?” Do you know where these are? The mountains of Israel are Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights, the very parts of the Land of Israel you are working to sever from Jewish “occupation.”
Occupation? It is THEIR God-given land; it has never been the “Palestinians!’”
Bottom line: It is not the Israeli government that is behind the settlement activity in Judea and Samaria. It’s the LORD God Himself.
Moving on, I was interested to read that, while you planned to give Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu just 15 minutes of your time on this visit here- an expected courtesy perhaps - what he had to tell you, as he spoke of the dire consequences of giving Judea and Samaria to the Arabs, compelled you to spend at least an hour with him.
“I brought her information from security officials and intelligence indicating that Hamas could take over the West Bank and create what is essentially an Iranian base there,” Netanyahu told reporters after that meeting.
In other words you can never say that you were not warned - and not for the first time - of the very probable outcome of what you are forcing Israel to do.
I say forcing, because it is what you are doing; and you are building on what Israel has been forced to do - through diplomatic blackmail and not-always-so-veiled threats - by the presidents and secretaries of state that have preceded you.
With respect, your argument that the US is only doing what Israel’s governments are in agreement about doing is deceptive. The overwhelming majority of those in Israel who today go along with land-for-peace and the creation of Palestine ONLY do so because they have been pushed and pressured by America for decades to do so.
The buck for this stops in the Oval Office - and at Foggy Bottom. And please don’t protest about all the good things America has done for Israel - your “friend” and “ally” in the Middle East. There is little that is laudable about giving support to someone while aiding his enemies in their efforts to kill him.
I come back to what I said about the consequences of your actions to your nation.
As you are flying home, Madam Secretary, the Fox Extreme Weather Center is reporting multiple tornado warnings and unrelenting flooding hitting great swathes of your country.
The weather, which has been excessive for weeks on end, with “freak tornadoes” brought about by “record-breaking warm winter weather” rampaging through towns and cities - is today being described as “brutal.”
Here in Israel we are watching pictures of destroyed homes in Oklahoma City and other parts of what the forecasters call “America’s heartland†and more damage is reportedly on the way.
“The weather is training through this region, storm after storm, flashflood warnings, six to eight inches of snow, and a possible uncontrollable tornado breakout lashing the country tomorrow.†Instead of March “roaring in like a lion and going out like a lamb,†said Fox, the month was roaring out an even bigger lion than it came in.
And the second story topping the news? The most sweeping regulatory power being brought into play by the Treasury in America since the Great Depression.
I don’t need to tell you about what has happened to your dollar; what your people are now paying for gas. How Vice President Dick Cheney had to go to Saudi Arabia, cap in hand, and ask for a favor to keep that price-per-barrel from going out of control.
Bible believers read that God will require at America’s hand, and at the hands of all those nations who participate in this process, an answer for its dividing up of the Land of Israel and the scattering of its people.
Ms. Rice, I know it will require a superhuman ability you likely do not have within yourself. But for the sake of your nation and for the sake of your ultimate legacy, it is my deep and earnest hope that you will recognize the error of the way in which you are set, and turn from this path before it is too late.

I’m am so grieved at the fact that so many of those who call themselves Christians and profess to believe the Bible to be the Word of God are so blinded as to what they are doing. They are in complete opposition to God and to His people. My prayers are with you, the people and with the land that God All Mighty has called His own. Very well written Stan. Rice just might read your letter. What I wouldn’t give to have her private e-mail address. Frankly, I loathe the woman and so should ALL Jews. The fact that she is selling Israel “down the line” is devastating to say the least. I can only hope that if the Israeli government goes along with her DEMANDS (who the hell does she think she is),then Olmert and his band of merry men are going “down the line” with her and that includes all of the US of A!. I pray that Our Lord will personally visit them through your letter while they are on their way as He did with the disciples on the way to Emmaus.

The week this storm started forming, the USA, Israel and the Arabs were wrapping up their historic meeting at the Annapolis Conference where they agreed to divide up Israel and Jerusalem. Disregarding the Word of God which declares that in the last days God would bring the House of Israel back into their land, never to be removed again.
Judgment we have brought upon ourselves. Physically, economically and spiritually. With no national sign of repentance but a determination to go our own way and rebel against God, all that is left is the economic crash and the invasion of our enemies. Even both are well underway.

I have written emails to many friends about the situation in Sderot. I was interested in their opinions. Most have said that I view the world through a keyhole and need to get out more, lol. Few in this country think that there is any difference between Israel and Hamas. They have been deceived in this matter just as they have in thinking somehow that the word science is the same as Biblical, but is more valid. I can’t help remembering the prohpets saying things like, you saw the trouble my people were in and did nothing. I was shocked at what I saw. Even those who say I am a Christian but admit to never having read the Bible and in the next sentence say how distrubed they are by Jews. I am told often that I somehow missed the message of Christ, to love all men and that I am tipped in favor of Jews over others.
Yes, I view the world through a keyhole and that keyhole is none other the the Spirit of God and the words He left me. Yes I am tipped in favor of the Jews cause He says there is value in this perception.
It is often forgotten that in our Book it is very clear that through history the people suffered for their leaders errors. Judgement on them falls on us.. Let’s not foget that when we suppose threats on our country we are condemning ourselves and our families. We also need to remember that one day all nations will kneel to Him and those countries that are our enemies today will contain members of our family then.
I will continue to pray for my leaders to get vision, my country to rise up and see where value lies, that our neighbors will get hearts, that Jerusalem will attain it’s given blessings.
My friends ask when I will stop praying for them. Talking to them about the things I read in the Book. Looking to a future fulfillment of the promises. How is it that America is the driving force behind forcing Israel to divide her land? I’m beginning to understand why I cannot find any mention of our once great nation in God’s Word. If America is referenced by Ezekial 36: 13 “Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you” as the young lions, we sit idly by and make a verbal protest. Thank you for expressing so well my sentiments! I love America that allowed me to grow up in freedom, and spent eight years in the military defending those freedoms. Today, I am saddened to see this great nation on a downward spiral morally and spiritually. Our leaders are shameless in their dealings with God’s chosen and as you so aptly said, are bringing God’s judgment on our nation. Rice comes from a church that teaches replacement theology and compares the situation in Israel to the struggle of the blacks in America for civil rights. She considers Abbas another Martin Luther King. When I look at pictures of her, I see the same look in her eyes as Kohmini and Adminadjad. Evil!

I ditto the many comments made thus far. I have prayed the prayers also. Amen. I pray that God will bless you, Stan, and those who send your letter, as well as their own, to the right people. I don’t think that Colson or Graham should be counted on if they have signed the letter to Bush encouraging him in his Roadmap. I believe I saw their names on that letter’s list as it stunned me that they would do such a thing. I remember praying for God’s mercy on those Christian leaders who encouraged President Bush and were praying for the Palestinian state in Israel. I would love to see the political leaders of Israel and the USA (and the spiritual leaders) reread the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. If only they would read the old newspapers of 47-48 and 56 and the quotes of the leaders then, then they might see that many truths about the palis are fabricated lies. They might not be so gracious to the palis. They might even put the accountability back on the Arab states where it truly belongs. But it seems that these leaders have purposely closed their eyes to history. And the truth. And, please Christians, exercise your discernment on who you are listening to! Many popular leaders are turning their backs on Israel and the Jews. I respect Pastor Hagee, but he does believe in a dual covenant-i.e., that we need not witness Christ to the Jews. Since he has embraced this belief, he has erred in other biblical beliefs. I see this happening more and more with once trusted teachers of the scriptures. As soon as they turn away from the Jews, they start preaching and teaching heresies. A shame, so be careful. I warn in love for you and Christ.

Thank you brother Stan Goodenough for this wonderful letter. I will continue to pray for Israel and will now be praying for you. The United States is my homeland but I am a missionary in West Africa. I can see what effect bad foreign policy has had here in Africa and can relate to how our just and compassionate God will not allow the poor and needy to be brutalized forever. I take courage and have hope because God never changes, but political rulers do. we know the end of this story. The Lord will defend Israel and the coast lands will be destroyed. In one day Babylon will fall. All the merchants shall weep and mourn because the means of their income will be lost in a moment. God’s people will be saved, even though many will suffer. We must pray that many of God’s chosen in Israel will believe on Jesus as the true Messiah before the time on Jacobs trouble.

Great letter! I was just reading in Zephaniah 3, “What sorrow awaits rebellious, polluted Jer USA lem, (Washington, DC) the city of violence and crime! No one can tell it anything; it refuses all correction. It does not trust in the Lord or draw near to its God.” As the nation of Israel was judged by a Holy God for it’s sin, so will America if we do not turn back to God. Just as Israel was chosen by God to show the known world of her time the Greatness of her God, America was raised up by God to be a “City on a hill” to do the same in this day and hour. If we do not learn from Israel’s past, we will be doomed to repeat it and suffer the judgment of God. PLEASE PRAY FOR AMERICA

Wow, that is so true. As a Christian and an American I have felt for the people of Israel and prayed for them every night. I know that our administrations have cheated you guys out, but the Bush is not the man that we thought we would get. I pray for God to forgive our leadership (USA) for ignoring the warnings. Israel government don’t need the USA or to depend on the USA for anything. YOU, Israel all ready have the highest of SUPERPOWERS right at your door step. All Israel has to do is turn to the Most High God. In the Torrah God annihalated the enemies of Israel anytime the Kings turned to Him and asked for HIS help and direction because of an enemy that wanted to destroy Israel. I agree with each and every word. As a strong supporter of Israel I have blessed Israel with finances when I can. Genesis 12:3 is still as true today as it was then. I can not change what my leaders do but as an individual I can do what I can do. And God knows my heart. Keep up the good work.

As we fall from Gods grace here in the US, I look at the so called Christian leaders of the churches and say (shame) for not speaking the truth. We are getting what we deserve for not speaking out like you do. Narrow is the path and few will find it. We cannot drink of the cup of the Lord and the cup of the devil also, which is in 99.9% of the churches in the US.
Thank you brother for being the man of God that you are. We all must make the choice whom we will serve, and unfortunatly our church leaders are looking up to money as our US leaders are and selling the Christians out and decieving them.

Dear Stan, You’ve said it well. You’ve said it accurately. I believe that one of the truest points in your missive is that “she won’t read it”. As an American, I have sent numbers of polite to-the-point letters to Ms. Rice and to President Bush. Based on the responses that I have received (zero…not even a post card or a “get lost” letter) I can only assume that my letters are deposited promptly into the circular file. A VERY high profile preacher in our nation who is a Christian Zionist par excellence, told me personally, that despite the fact that he had several personal conversations with George W. when he was the governor of Texas, America’s president has now “circled the wagons” around himself. It would appear that neither he, nor his Secretary of State will listen to anything that will not support a two-state solution to be carved from Israel’s promised land. As a Christian in a nation that has experienced God’s favor for a LONG time, it is quite discouraging. We have become a nation of rebels being led by the arrogant and blind. I’m not calling all of you to send the letter to everyone on your mailing list.
But rather think of sending it to those who would probably read it carefully.
This letter is a warning and a call to change one’s mind and repent.
Thus I consider it as good news which should belong to the Body!
As a Messianic pastor I’m aware that it’s not a must for every believer to read news from Israel every single day. Yet the messages of this kind should benefit more people in the Body than just these news subscribers and couple officials at the White House.

Your article / letter to Ms. Rice is not ignored, Stan. Letters, emails and other correspondence reach the office of the State Department and other gov’t personalities regularly.
But, whether read or ignored by some people or read and embraced others may largley be irrelevant. Jonah was commanded to proclaim the truth in Nineveh - and ultimately delivered HIS brief Message.
While people may take heed or not, GOD is Un - Alterable. And, the DAY nears that people will be compelled to not merely take notice of increasing ‘Natural Disasters, ‘ but, will by HIS Majestic Grace discern a correlation between human Policy and Practice and links with HIS Majesty.
Before and After discernment, HIS Eyes discern the thoughts and intents, motives and methods - either Excusing or else, Accusing those who persist in the arrogance.

I continue to pray for our leaders; in America and Israel. My prayer is that God will open the eyes of their hearts and give them wisdom concerning the land promised to Abraham and his descendants. America has broken Covenant with G-d and we all know HE is in control of weather, and all jugements and we see it on daily. G-d told us all leaders are ran by the god of this world, and HE told us not to learn the ways of the heathen and that HE would not stand on any hill with any other god. The Church is in the apostasy that has to come before the rapture..It won’t get better only worse. Reading Ezekiel, the next war will be the fall an burning of Damascus, and that will make the nations tremble who are the ones that attack are around her right now. A Christian nation would not consider arm-twisting Israel into yielding territory to her sworn enemies. But the United States of America is not Christian. Our 2,000-plus mosques bear witness to that if our degraded state of morality does not. Nor do we have Christian leaders in any significant number.
Christians go to the polls with each election and vote for men and women we believe will stand for Christian principles based on their campaign speeches. Still, we end up with leaders who are ignorant of and disobedient to Scripture. Among the many evils they promote is this denegration of Israel, the land given by the LORD to the decendants of Abraham through the son of promise, Isaac, not Ishmael. The promised land comprises territory “from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates”. That is far more land than Israel occupies today. If our President and Secretary of State believed the Bible, they would surely back away from this great error in haste.
Our only hope, and Israel’s, is that the LORD is in control of the affairs of man. What He has promised, He will do. We invite our own destruction by defying His stated intent for his children Israel.
We must also remember that the descendants of Ismail (arabs) are from the seed of Abraham. It is not only jewish people that God want to save but ALL humanity. Let us pray for arabs who have chosen to become enemy of their brothers. God want to bless these people as well and have not condemn anyone on earth for their sins. The blind and deaf must be made to see and hear words of God. Unlike man God love everyone on a planet…God protect Israel.

Shalom! What you wrote, Stan, is what I have been writing the editor of our paper about. Some are published, some are not. But we must never stop telling Biblical truth. I encourage all of you out there to write to the Letters to the Editor of your local newspapers, along with your congressmen. We all know that YHVH is in total control. We are commanded to pray for those in authority but to remember what Daniel wrote in Daniel 2:21-23, “Blessed be the name of G_d from eternity past to eternity future! For wisdom and power are His alone; He brings the changes of seasons and times; He installs and deposes kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those with discernment. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what lies in the darkness; and light dwells with Him. I thank and praise you, G_d of my ancestors, for giving me wisdom and power, and revealing to me what we wanted from You, for giving us the answer for the King.”
Thank you Stan for your warning letter to our nation. The political and religious leaders of our nation are asleep. Our Lord does not sleep and soon he will judge our nation and the world for its treatment of Israel. We must continue to pray without ceasing. We can offer Psalm 83 as a prayer for Israel.

I just finished reading all 82 of the responses to, ” Ms Rice, God is Watching you.” It was a wonderful refreshing to my soul to read words of people that truly are in love with our saviour and friend,Jesus!. How do I know they are in love with Jesus?, because they want what Jesus wants, Peace in Jerusalem and Israel made a name and a praise and a joy among all the nations!
Luke 21: 20 says, “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies then know that the desolation thereof draweth nigh”. Satans goal is to take “The West Bank”, (Judea and Samaria) and then he will aim his sights onto Jerusalem , that is when we need to look up for our redemption draweth nigh.
The word desolation means grief, sadness, loneliness, devastation & ruin

Stan, Your letter to the “Madame Secretary” was heartfelt and biblically sound. It made all the sense in the world to myself and, I’m sure, many other born again believers in Jeshua. However, Condi is no Israelphile. I believe she could be anti-semitic. She is empathetic to the Palestinian cause equating it to the civil rights struggle of blacks in 1960’s America.
However, the bottom line in all this is that we (America), through GW’s and Condi’s insane arm twisting of Israel to commit genocide, are bringing certain judgment upon us by the LORD God of Israel.

The end is not in sight for what the Lord has in store for this nation weather wise or economically due to our governments treatment of Israel. Since the start of the Annapolis meetings, one calamity after another has befallen our nation. What was once the greatest, God blessed nation in the world besides Israel, is now on the verge of being destroyed. I am convinced our leaders will continue to press on with their plans for a divided Israel, no matter which party gains the White House. This can only mean the sorrows felt by the people of this nation will continue to grow exponentially. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for I am afraid it is almost too late to pray for America. Do you really think America would throw Israel under the bus? Hard working Americans down through the ages have sent their hard earned money in the form of taxes to the DC Government, in turn the government has spent and sent millions probably billions to the aid of Israel.
We have stood with you through thick and think–what would ever make you think we would turn our backs on you? What is written is a insult to me and my family, after all I’m one of the hard working taxpayers that have sent my tax money to DC and some of it over the years has ended up in Israel.

Your extremely well articulated letter to Secretary of State Condolezza Rice is excellent. This is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit.
I had earlier written one such in a website and also sent one to the President directly by email, ofcourse that would be have been among the millions of messages he would have received.

Every day my heart grieves for what the world does to Israel and I am more appalled by what the United States of America does to Israel. They are self-heaping condemnation on themselves by what they do to Israel.
What would be more damning for President Bush and Secretary Rice is that they are doing harm to Israel having fully known what the Holy Bible says and what they commit in acts of omission and commission in delebrate cognisance.

I agree that Condi and W are way off on this issue of dissing Israel and their push of “land for peace” and their end-of-administration scrambling for Arab/Israel photo opportunities.
On the bleak side if this isn’t bad enough I do think Obama and Hillary would do worse. Christian moderates to liberals and many American Jewish people feared the evangelical candidate Mike Huckabee but his quotes on Israel, the settlements and the land if sincere would have been positions we could live with.
I’m not at all sure about McCain but given his history of opposing ours and your border fences and backing the one in Egypt that protects them Egypt from Hamas (go figure), I suspect he’d be bad but perhaps a tad less so than Oh-bombery Billary. Whew, we need to be in prayer. Some evangelicals love Ron Paul for Constitutional reasons, others for isolationist reasons and some because they too are not interested in protecting our democratic political friend, Israel either. Hard times ahead, but Yeshua is returning soon.

Yes, I am sorrowful about all that bowing towards Mecca and forgetting that Jerusalem is God’s city on earth. Now we see that hardly anyone reads the Holy book, and if they read, they close their eyes on it. In it there is clear warnings in many pages conderning how pagan countries handle their relations with God’s Holy Land and His chosen people. And that goes very well with big and small churches and Christian communities. They are required to respect Jews and their land. Furthermore: just obey what Lord has said very clearly. I’m living in Finland, used to live in Canada for many, many years. I like both countries. My strong suggestion is: PRAY for our leaders and for the success of Jerusalem. Maranatha!

Awesome letter. It is amazing how many churches even have a clue how important Israel is to Almingty God! Satan hates God’s chosen so much and has very much succeded in causing many who profess to be followers of Christ to hate them as well.
I fly an Israeli flag at my home in honor of my love for Israel and the Jewish People.
The main reason Christians do NOT know about God’s love and His plan for His people is because they do NOT read His word except on Sundays when they are following along with the text the preacher has chosen with his sermon…and very seldom in most sermons in churches in the USA is Isreal even mentioned.
Thank God for the preachers and ministries who not only preach that we must love Jesus and His commandments, but that we must also love and support His chosen people as well.

This caused me to think of the following passage for it’s principle truths and theme:
2 Ti.4:2-3
‘Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears…
The key principle concept as I see it is: ‘not enduring sound doctrine’ and the ‘itching ears’…
Not coincidentally - the phrase ‘itching ears’ means: to desire to hear only pleasant things…G-ds Word is explicit concerning TRUTH…And the Messiah taught that: ‘The Father is seeking those who will worship in spirit and in truth.’

Stan, you are absolutely correct in everything you are saying. It is all Biblical and I thank you for being a watchman on the wall. I am grieved over our president’s stand on Israel and pray daily that he will come to his senses. There is no question that America is reaping what we have been sowing and this weather phenomenon is just the beginning of God’s warning to us. If we continue to betray Israel and side with the Arabs, I shudder to think what the outcome will be. I will continue to pray for God’s grace to bear up under whatever circumstances He deems necessary for our nation to experience as a result of our sin. I could not understand the disengagement from the begining. At times i have wondered whether or not I was the odd ball. Clearly our leaders have difficulty with reading comprehension and sorely challenged when it comes to obedience. Scripture tells us leaders will behave as children in these times. Here it is.
