United States Vice President Richard Cheney was supposed to be a neo-con, cut from the same right-thinking and anything-but-politically-correct cloth as former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and former US Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton.
As such there was optimism expressed in certain circles that the second-in-command to George W. Bush would bring some clarity and common sense to the land-for-peace debate when he arrived on a visit to Israel at the weekend.
Certainly Cheney was aware of the grave, no-less-than-existential, danger posed to Israel by the perpetually-pushed yet morally and strategically-bankrupt “peace” process.
While protocol would keep him from gainsaying his boss, there was surely some roundabout way in which he could air his doubts about the feasibility of the “two-state solution” or Roadmap, and thereby buttress those Israelis who fear it will spell the end of their reborn national home?
Those who held to these hopes were destined for disappointment:
The creation of a Palestinian state on historically Jewish lands is “long overdue,” Cheney said, according to the Washington Post.
To achieve that goal, he added, Israel would have to make painful concessions to the Palestinians.
To be sure he “balanced” this by saying that the Arab side would have to make painful concessions too.
The historic and present-day reality, however, is that the only “painful” compromises the “Palestinians” would have to agree to would be imaginary ones; contrived concessions.
For while the Jews are expected to surrender title and claim to the cradle of their nationhood as well as the strategic high-ground, agreeing to limit their territory to an indefensible strip of land just 13 kilometers wide at its waist, the Arab side is being asked to relinquish claims to land it has never had; to rights it has never been entitled to.
Cheney should know better. In fact, I believe he does know better. He knows what’s just and what is right.
But like Angela Merkel, Nicolas Sarkozy, Tony Blair, George Bush, John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton - the American VP has now shown that he is prepared to treat Israel as England and France treated Czechoslovakia in 1938.
The Arabs massively outnumber the Jews; they control the oil; they are the aggressors out of whose midst come the jihadists that threaten the security of western nations. The Arabs must be accommodated, pacified, given what they want.
Israel must pay the bill.

I cannot believe that any Bible Believing American would want Israel to give away any land that they know is only GOD’S to give. Do they think that they are pacifing the Arab Nation, so that they will not come after America next. Think again. The land was given to the Jew’s because they are GOD’s people. However, God says that He will personally deal with all these Jew haters and Jew betrayers, and that includes Bush, Cheney, Rice, Angela Merkel, Nicolas Sarkozy, Tony Blair, John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. They will all answer to God at the Judgment Dayfor their wickedness.
The bottom line is that we as born again Christians do not have to worry about Israel and what will happen to them. God is very capable of doing what He said He would do to all the Jew haters. God says that all we need to do is to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”.

How can an American citizen let their protest of this matter be made known to our President and VP or Sec. of State? There is no way. There are numerous people who disagree with the Pres. on this issue but don’t know how to let their thoughts be made known to all of them, VP, Sec. of State and Pres. If they just go blindly into this kind of thing without asking for the approval of the citizenry, how can we do anything about it? It is very frustrating. I supported George Bush up until I read about all this. Then I hear he is trying to have a Highway between Canada and Mexico built through the USA, the International Highway that would in effect allow Mexicans to bring their trucks into the US without any license to do so. Isn’t this a matter to be decided by the people it will most affect? It is in my eyes a tyrranical move on the part of the Pres. or the government.

This problem stems from a wrong interpretation of the bible and prophetic scriptures. A very large segment of mainline Christianity see the scriptures dealing with last days as allegorical and not literal. They have been taught that the institutional church will bring social justice and peace to the world. An Israeli state with Jerusalem as its capital doesn’t fit this theology. That is why these poiticians can talk of respect for the Jews on the one hand and the division of their land on the other. The Lord will prevail despite wrong theology.

I believe that you remember too many things that most of us have forgotten. I am always comforted, however, by the assurance of his coming redemption. In the bible Moses told the Jews that G-d would fulfill his word not because we deserved it, because from the beginning we had been a stiffnecked people, full of problems. He would fulfill it because of his own greatness, and because of his promises. These promises thus are based on his boundless mercy, which was affirmed by others after, not least of which Jesus Christ. I know that I am a sinner, not just from what Moses and others told us, but from personal experience. This knowledge is what allows me to ask mercy even for the enemies of good. I can hope that when he reveals himself again, in the sight of all the living, as he has promised, and all doubts are cast aside that my sincere repentance, and that of my enemies will be accepted and he may have mercy on us all. In the meantime, when I see the love and concern expressed in these pages my heart is full. I have to believe that for your love and your steadfastness that he is proud of you now. Again, thank you.

Since the start of Purim ( sp.?) I keep think of Haman and his little back yard building project. Thinkin a gallows doesnt look that much different from a missle set up. Gayle, when you said no one is listening and that the volume needs to be turned up, it reminded me of an old saying, “There are none so blind as those who refuse to see, and there are none so deaf as those who refuse to hear.” In other words, they hear you and they see the judgements, they just don’t want to consider it, let alone believe it. Is it any wonder that God’s judgements must be so harsh at times? His judgements are merciful, but His wrath will come on those who refuse to repent and it will be without mercy. Letter to my President To follow a course of action that allows the people of Sderot to be bombed on a daily basis is nothing less than a disgrace to this country and the things we hold dear. We have stepped up and stopped a mad, brutal man in Iraq and the result is no more mass murder, rape of children, threats to the world at large. Why are we insisting on rewarding men that make no bones about their intent for all Jews, Christians, Americans. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Saddam was like a barking dog next door compared to the men in Gaza that talk about peace while building bombs day after day after day. Children are loosing their limbs. People live in fear. I see a bit more clearly that which I couldn’t understand as a child in America.
